BlazBlue getting updated with new characters, moves |
Ó

Arc System Works, the company behind the Guilty Gear series and the much more recent BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, has good news 2D fighting game fanatics -- particularly those who enjoyed BlazBlue. They've announced in the latest issue of Famitsu that an update/sequel for BlazBlue called "Continuum Shift" is in development.
Continuum Shift is being called a sequel, but it has more in common with the tweaked updates that Arc System Works released for games in the Guilty Gear series. The update will include new moves for all of the game's old cast as well as the addition of two new characters.
One of these is Tsubaki Yayoi, a female fighter that according to producer Toshimichi Mori is being balanced for ease of use. "A lot of her moves hit on multiple levels, and I think she'll be easy to use for beginners," he said.
That said, Continuum Shift is not targeted towards beginners. "We're developing this game for fighting game fans -- not beginners, not advanced players, but fighting game fans -- to enjoy playing each other in," Mori said.
Definitely great news, although nothing has been said so far about a console release. Seems inevitable, though. Maybe this is what the "new characters and moves" mentioned in the press release for the game's Euro release meant. Continuum Shift will be unleashed in Japanese arcades this winter, which gives it ample time to be localized and included in the game's Euro release. Perhaps a downloadable release for everywhere else too.

this had better be a DLC release. I'm not about to go pay for another disc.
It better be DLC I bought it SE and anfortunately for my xbox 360 (wanted de PS3 version) because it would be lame to send you the same game with a few extras, it's not worth $59.
It sounds like it's going to be a whole new disc guys... fighters in the ol days (especially in Japan) always came out with "new" versions that would include a new charater and maybe a new move set for some old characters and charge you for a whole new game.
With the way DLC is these days, it should be a simple download that costs just a few bucks. But sadly it prob wont be.
Many other better games to spend $60 on.
Disappointing game overall. Not a patch on the Guilty Gears and some really bland and terrible character design.
