BlackSite: Area 51 from Midway Games - Image 1

Earlier this month, we reported that another title, BlackSite: Area 51 will be missing its date with the PlayStation 3. According to reports, Midway Games' upcoming video game is suffering from development problems, "missing online features," and some difficulties stemming from the Unreal Engine 3.

Apparently, an anonymous insider contacted Ars Technica about BlackSite: Area 51's mounting problems:

The PS3 version is experiencing issues and missed deadlines... Midway isn't happy at all about the progress, and it's a story I've heard over and over this year across the industry when it comes to the PS3 and cross-platform titles.

Sadly, this means that we might be seeing BlackSite: Area 51 on the PS3 later than its Xbox 360 and PC counterparts. As of now, we can look at these tidbits as speculation, as there hasn't been an official confirmation regarding this. Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best. More news about this when we get them, so stay tuned.

Another lazy producer, its starting to remind me other producers back in 2001 when they were moaning about ps2's 'hard architecture'... My advise to them is to either stay with the pc or the wii platforms if they cant take the heat.

Software delays....AGAIN

Its the price us PS3 owners all have too pay for having the most technically advanced gaming console in the world!!!

....

You guys obviously don't understand how difficult it is to develop games for the PS3. Just about every video game company has said that the PS3 is much more difficult to produce games for. When Sony designed the PS3 they did not have video game manufacturers in mind and instead packed as much power into the machine. It is the most technologically advanced of the 3 systems but it is also the most complicated to work on from what I have read. You guys shouldn't make excuses for Sony and instead you should be upset at them for not working more with video game companies to make sure these problems don't happen.

Yup...

What's the point of having so much power if no one is able to harness it.....even Sony's first party titles have been pretty lackluster.... You'd think almost a year after launch they would be doing something extra special with their 1st party titles (like the leap gears was over perfect dark)....yet all you get is drakes fortune and Ratchet and Clank....games that look marginally better then Resistance and when compared to the other games out there, still aren't that great.....

hrm

Are you saying you actually wanted this game? I've never heard any hype or even much talk at all about this game, it just doesn't seem very interesting at all.

oh look!!!!

a troll has returned!!! as far as this post goes, i thought that sony were meant to be helping out the devs, so whats gone wrong? have they left the gaming companies to rot while they get their own games out? or is it a case that midway refused sonys help in the first place? either way, something stinks!!! i also read on ps-gamer that ubisoft is holding up the likes the likes of haze assasins creed etc!!! hope this is'nt true!!!

first party titles?

I may just be behind in the loops, but when did Insomniac and Naughty Dog become owned by SONY? I don't want to say anything that I don't know about, but I thought they were just developers that went for the PS3 not that they were owned by SONY themselves. I have a small joke about the 360 though, my heater in my room wasn't working this morning and the temp. dropped to 58 degrees :O I laughed and said oh well, I'll just turn my 360 on for 15 minutes and i'll be well up over 80

are you kidding me?

R+C and Uncharted are like, the two games I'm looking forward to more than anything. And looking marginally better than R:FoM? Bull*****. uncharted looks really nice and Ratchet and Clank is a frikkin cartoony game to begin with.

Jasper...

First party titles are titles that are PUBLISHED by Sony/Nintendo/MS.... The company does not have to own the dev house....
