BlackSite Area 51 invades the Net: site launched |

Midway Europe announced that the official site to BlackSite: Area 51 (PlayStation 3, Windows PC on DVD, Xbox 360) just went online, and the Net portal for Area 51 fans is now available to host a growing community behind it. Because in addition to the usual repertoire of game media downloads and info, the site also offers forums to discuss anything and everything about BlackSite: Area 51.
The sci-fi horror first-person shooter is expected to drop players into the shoes of Aeran Pierce, a Delta Force operative sent in to contain an alien threat so fierce that it metaphorically "broke" through the government's efforts to keep it confidential. Joining the player are alien containment combatants - trained squad members armed to the teeth - and can be manipulated through orders provided by the player.
Keeping them fit for battle, however, will be your biggest challenge, as your decisions will affect the squad's morale. If they take too much fire, they will lose morale and eventually flee from combat. In the upside, however, if they gain more morale, their fighting prowess increases. And that doesn't just include weapon damage and accuracy or armor defense bonuses - they will also be able to take enemies head-on more courageously.
And if that wasn't already apparent in the demo offered on Xbox Live Marketplace, expect the game to remind players after it storms PlayStation 3s, Xbox 360s, and capable PCs worldwide on November. That's about the same time two other FPS titans, Crytek's Crysis and Epic Games' Unreal Tournament III, will hit similar platforms, too.
