BioWare: mystery MMO to play to strengths, no Mass Effect for PS3 - Image 1

BioWare's mystery MMO has attracted a lot of speculation for a long time now. The prevalent theory is that it will be a Star Wars game, but this has never been confirmed. BioWare is still mum on the topic, but they do provide a few clues.

In a recent interview, BioWare's Ray Muzyka gives us hints on what to expect from the new MMO. No solid details are given (of course). At least we get a vague picture of the project, especially for those who are familiar with BioWare's style (think Mass Effect):

We want to be innovators in the space. We're trying to bring some fresh stuff to the mix. We still have great reverence for a lot the great games, but we're also trying to add some new things.

Like all Bioware games, we're focusing on story, customization, exploration, combat... I think it would be really exciting to be able to play a game which has character depth and interaction and story in a way that works within social settings.

If they're going to follow the style of storytelling they did for Mass Effect, then we can expect a lot from the MMO. Speaking of Mass Effect, Muzyka also squashed any rumors that the game will reach the PlayStation 3 platform, saying:

Whenever we bring a game to a new platform, we always look at it with reverence and respect. The conversion to PC was something we only thought of doing late in the 360 development. [...] Right now that's it, that's all we've got in development for Mass Effect, just the PC version and the 360.

Which is not to say that it will never get ported to the Sony platform, but it's not looking good that it will happen either. Of course, he never said anything about which platforms the sequel will appear on. We can only hope.

Aww

That's too bad, I really enjoyed this game, it'd be cool if those who only had a PS3 could do the same. Shame on you developers.
