BioShock - Image 1

What with all the recent games requiring a mandatory install, this one doesn't come as a surprise at all. The PlayStation 3 version of BioShock will have a mandatory install of close to 5 GB, so be sure you have some space on your drive when it comes out.

The installation time takes about 10 minutes to finish, so you might want to plan out what you want to do during that time as well. Maybe go through the ethical dilemma of whether to kill the Little Sisters or not. Get the whole emotional trauma over with. You'll even have appropriate music playing in the background, as the install time comes with some Rapture-related ads and piano music.

BioShock for the PlayStation 3 will come out on October 21 in the US, and October 24 for everywhere else.

During those 10 minutes, I might do something constructive like read the game manual... like I did with the MGS4 initial install.

5GB is nothing on my PS3's 500GB internal HDD. Bring it.

I think it's funny when 360 fan-jerks laugh at the PS3's install process. Now that the 360 will allow FULL installs of games and the same 360 fan-jerks are in AWE. Soon they'll be FULLY installing their games and loving it!!!

Only 5GB? Screw that, I want to install the ENTIRE GAME!!!!

Yeah they will be able to install the games but with a 20GB HDD, how many do you think they can install at once? My guess is that the average 360 owner (with said 20GB HDD) will be able to install 1 (possibly 2 games) at a time. They will have to delete most if not all of their demos/XBLA games and music on the drive and each game will take between 20 - 30 minutes to install, assuming the game is 6-8GB.

Those with a 60GB or 120GB will be able to install a bit more without having to sacrifice what they have already downloaded.

Every time they delete that content, they will have to go through the same thing again.

One thing they may point out is that it's optional, but considering how load the DVD drive is, who wouldn't want to take advantage of that feature?

At least we can get much bigger HDD's than them, like my new 500GB baby. It also cost me £20 more than the 360's 120GB HDD!! I'm hoping that a 1TB (or bigger) will be out by this time next year.

@nyr2k2 - I only submitted it once. Go drip your trears in front of a QJ tech, not here you damn baby.

@chessboxer

"how many do you think they can install at once?"

That's not limiting the PRASE for the feature. Hell, I want it too on the PS3!

"Every time they delete that content, they will have to go through the same thing again."

Again, that's not the point. They still LOVE this feature. That's the point.

I won't lie, the ability to install entire games on the HDD for the 360 is cool...provided you have a premium HDD. I'll invest in a 320GB+ hdd soon. I mean, 5GB? I got the 80gb PS3, and have loads of space left.

So yeah, bring it. Even if you run low on space, just get a new HDD! They give you the option to backup the data to another device, then insert the new HDD and restore everything.

I haven't looked into it yet. Does the backup feature backup EVERYTHING? I though I read somewhere it misses a couple things?

I dont know why but it makes me feel like my PS3 is more like a PC when I need to do an install lol. Even it only speeds up loading times by 2 secs that is fine with me. Its not like you cant delete these installs when you are done.

Awesome, thanks! I was worried about it. I've got so much stuff on my drive. I was thinking of copying everything via "manual copy" as well as backup just to be safe. I'll just use backup now.

I'm waiting for SSD to come down in price. Yes people, I read the BS article about how it doesn't help AT ALL. Except those guys are idiots and they used a piss poor SSD.

The drop in heat alone will be worth it!

I still surprise that micr$oft has not release a 500GB hard drive.

I mean come on 120GB will only hold 5-10 games
