BioShock 2 pushed back, now scheduled for 2010 release |
In a somewhat surprising move today, Take-Two has announced that BioShock 2 (360, PS3) will be delayed and is now scheduled for release in the first half of 2010. The game, originally slated for a November 3 release in North America, will be pushed back to provide additional development time for the developers.
Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two, said in a statement:
We recognize that our revised outlook for the balance of fiscal year 2009, due to both internal and external factors, is a disappointment. That said, we concluded that moving the release of BioShock 2 into fiscal year 2010 was the right decision for the product. We believe the result will be a more compelling consumer experience and a better performing product in the marketplace. At the same time, near term retail conditions have proven to be more challenging for our business than the assumptions built into our prior outlook. We remain confident in the long term potential for Take-TwoÂ’s business, and our ability to capitalize on that potential through our exceptional creative talent and solid balance sheet.
Ben Feder, Chief Executive Officer of Take-Two, added that:
The decision to shift a release date is never an easy one, especially with a product as highly anticipated as BioShock 2. We felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve. As a result, we will now be launching sequels to several of our strongest franchises - including BioShock 2, Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Red Dead Redemption - during the next fiscal year. These titles will anchor our lineup for fiscal 2010, and along with other products planned for next year, provide a platform for enhanced financial performance in what we hope will be an improved retail environment.

Come on Take-Two, just tell the truth. Your game was scheduled to come out a week before Modern Warfare 2 and you just decided you didn't want any part of competing with that beast! Just admit it.
2010 is THE YEAR of the PS3!!!! That's why!
HAHAHAHA!!!!
I dont beleive 'Fiscal Year 2010' neccisarily means calendar year 2010. Best release would be December, which would still be fiscal 2010 for Take-two.
they can take all the time they need, just make sure it lives up to the orginal
and seriously, why would they be afraid of modern warfare... thats just a childish assumption. Bioshock 2 will sell great no matter when its released
Yeah youre right!!!!
and so was 2008!
oh and 2009!
WOW!!! all those years were "supposed" to be the year for ps3!!!!
oh yeah but yet 360 wasnt any of those years....
BUT STILL BEAT PS3!?!?!?! WTF!?!?!!
amazing how a *****ty console is supposed to be the year of this and that and that the 360 still wins????
Well as sony fanboys as yourself say all the time,
NEXT YEAR IS THE YEAR PS3 yeah!!!!
yet somehow 360 will beat it again next year and then 2011 will be the year for ps3!!!!!
Funny how that turns out huh????
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
one of the reasons xbox "sold" so many system was due to the fact that A LOT of people had to buy numerous 360's. Where ps3's can be fixed by hand and don't need to be replaced.
Also 360 is already able to be pirated on....ps3 not so much.
Sony may have taken a hit by going blu ray instead. but hell they are catching up pretty quick now aren't they?
I think i'll go make a level in littlebigplanet about our conversation. you should come play it on your 36......oh yea i forgot you aren't allowed to play Littlebigplanet .
Once im done with that i think i'll go play my 360 for a bit seeing as how i own both.
Go away you biased thinking fanboy. try a system out before you judge it.
P.s. im on my first ps3 in 2.5 years.
I am on my 4th xbox in 2 years.
I couldn't have said it better myself....and i have seen that PS3 related comments are rated high and 360 comments r rated low(i don't rate)
This site is filled with PS3 fanboys, the comments supporting Sony are almost always rated higher.
Tho in this article I'm seeing gio's comment rated higher lol. He does have a point however stupid he made it sound, 2008 was supposed to be the year of the PS3 and the 360 dominated it harder than ever... Change of plans, 2009 is the year of the PS3...
To joebo, that is the dumbest and most tired 360/PS3 argument nowadays, it's worse than saying "PS3 has no games". Who besides the mentally challenged would run out to the store and buy another 360 for $300-$400 when theirs' breaks, when MS will either fix it for free in warranty or for only $50-$100 if you're out of warranty? Or get a replacement from the store, or get one cheap on eBay, etc etc. None of which counts as a sale...
Bioshock2 will be fine whenever they release it..
1. I'm a PC fanboy.
2. gio2009 fails at sarcasm!!!
Jesus people, learn what a JOKE is...
