Let's go back to Kojima's teaser site now, shall we? Yes, it's time to confound ourselves even more, this time with a more solid clue in the form of the Big Boss amidst all that torrential rain and lightning.

See that image below? That's what we got today:

Kojima teaser: Big Boss - Image 1

Other flashes reveal the following: e, 3, E, R, P and what could either be a 5 or an S. Don't sweat it out too much for now. After all, there are still two more clues to be given out before it is revealed in full.

The next clue is slated to come out on May 29th, while the last one is for June 1st. And then come E3, Kojima is set to announce several games, all of which we assume are going to be big.

This is how you hype up an upcoming game.

Re PS3 Exclusive

Here is my shot in the dark... Re is used in reference to replying in emails Then there is surely a capital E, which I am gonna say stands for exclusive. I think that is an S not a five so I'm gonna go with his next game is an exclusive for the PS3...This is his response to all the emails that I am sure he is getting about whether his next game will be a ps3 exclusive or not.

........

shot in the dark indeed lol

Could this be...

A remake of the NES classics? Oh I hope it is.
by MARTINSTATIC - 2009-05-27 00:40:53
Ahhh

First Substance for 2, then Subsistence for 3, now this 'Next' for 4. Looks to me it'll include mgs3 characters etc in some sort of bonus extra. Either that or could could be some itouch or something game... As for the letters, well, they don't help alot. e3 and random letters that really could mean anything :P

PlayStation E3 PS3 Exclusive Remake

Bigboss is in there... This is going to be a remake of Metal gear solid 3. The R stands for remake!
by Devil Outlaw - 2009-05-27 01:37:53
Really?

All I'm getting is the storm picture and a 00:00:00 countdown timer..strange...
by NarooN - 2009-05-27 03:04:11
..

Why would they just remake 3? It'd just be the same game, but with better graphics. Even if it was the on the MGS4 engine, which it probably would be, wouldn't make sense to implement Octocamo since that tech didn't even exist then. I mean, honestly... Sure, the graphics would be amazing but...That's about all they could improve on. MGS3 is great as it is.
by G.Spenny - 2009-05-27 03:22:49
Hrm...

I'm hearing a lot about remakes of this and that. Personally, I'm hoping for something new. I mean, there's a 35-year gap between Portable Ops and Metal Gear, which is odd considering most Metal Gear games are 2 to 5 years apart in the storyline. There's most likely going to be another prequel. We heard about the big falling out between Big Boss and Zero in Guns of the Patriots but we haven't gotten the chance to experience it. We've yet to experience the rise of The Patriots, the beginning of the Zero/Big Boss conflict and the establishment of Outer Heaven. I hope Kojima gives us a chance to do so. As for the inevitable director's cut, like Substance and Subsistence, do you remember the QJ article where Konami copyrighted the title "Metal Gear Solid Existence"? You can bet that'll be MGS4's director's cut.

.

Every since I beat MGS4 a day after it came out, I always thought of how endlessly badass it'd be to fight as Big Boss alongside Ocelot and Eva. Oh boy.

Metal Gear 1 + 2 PS3 Remakes!

I say it now, I'll say it again and I said it when Kojima was talking about his "Next Project". Personally I think it is going to be a PS3 remake of Metal Gear 1 + 2! This cannot be for the PSP; look at the graphics on that soldier! Also this cannot be Metal Gear Solid 3 as Big Boss has already got his eye patch! It is in Zanzibar Land and Outer Heaven, and will probably be released on PSN or come on a Hybrid Movie Disk of Metal Gear Solid.

....

Maybe you have to read it backwards? you get P,R,E... PRE for PREQUEL? Big Boss would be the hero in a Prequel, that's why he's on the page.... and e3 is actually pretty clear. My guess would be a new Metal Gear Solid Prequel which tells a story even before MGS3. (Which told the story of Big Boss, for everybody who doesn't know)
by MaaX - 2009-05-27 05:41:02
Second that...

what andychole said is possibly the wisest thought. It could be a remake of Metal Gear 1 + 2 or it could be prequel lying anywhere between the 35 year gap from Portable Ops to Metal Gear as G.Spenny mentioned.
by MaaX - 2009-05-27 05:43:43
...

is it just me or Big Boss looks a bit different from MGS3?
by Digitus - 2009-05-27 06:13:35
Ohh

And it continues. All we can do is wait it out and marvel at how well Kojima is building this hype. Glad to see its confirmed beyond doubt to be MGS related. What have we learned so far? Rather than the storm meaning "Raiden" we get a picture of Big Boss here showing that there wasn't anything super secretive about the images before...that we know of. Now that we have Big Boss we still can't assume anything though. Just be sure its a Metal Gear game. It could be remakes. Could be a separate prequel. Or it could be a sequel with a random picture of Big Boss thrown in for good measure...?
by Chilloutcolin - 2009-05-27 08:12:15
mg remake....; )

gotta say ...i would love an mg and mg2 remake...never played them and wish i had...i cant make anything out from the site (except that its mgs related...probably...although with kojima you never know lol) but i sure am excited ...oh kojima you marketting genius ...

Big Boss Gone?

Was the image of Big Boss only up for a brief period? Now I'm only seeing rain, and the time is at the 101:40:15 mark.
by MaaX - 2009-05-27 09:27:45
.

Yeah it randomly appears for a brief second. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to see it more than 3 times in 10 minutes or so.

i lol at the people assuming its a ps3 exclusive. inless your banging hideo then dont assume *****
by fearlubu - 2009-05-27 09:47:25
well

looking at at the pic of BB, im pretty sure its not before MGS3. Its either going to be between PO and MG or like some say: MG 1 and/or 2 remake
by NarooN - 2009-05-27 11:54:46
.

What logic do you have to laugh like it's not possible? MGS1 got released on Gamecube as a remake because Hideo didn't feel like doing it himself. Gamecube version had crap cutscenes anyway. MGS2 got released on PC and Xbox. MGS3 stayed on PS2 on got a Subsistence director's cut. Portable Ops was obviously only on PSP. MGS4 was only on PS3 because of the space Hideo needed. Now, with all honesty, do you expect Hideo to leave his comfort zone and struggle trying to make it fit on an inferior media disc?
by NarooN - 2009-05-27 11:56:14
Not before MGS3 or during it.

It's obviously not gonna be before MGS3 because he already has the friggin' eyepatch. It wouldn't be *during* it, hence the 2nd part of the game, because we already experienced that. It's either gonna be after MGS3, before Portable Ops, or after MPO. I don't think it'll make much sense to take place after or during MGS1 somehow, but it's Kojima's story, so...
by Tydeus - 2009-05-27 12:32:12
MGS5

Well, by prequel.. it doesnt always mean before every single game.. just means before the current game.. right? Ryan Payton said sometime before MGS4's release that the next game will more than likely be a prequel about Big Boss to fill in the blanks. When I saw the codes, I just assumed RE + Revolution + 360, the next two letters for me were PS (PS3), then theres e3.. and the original number/letter "5/S"

Wallpaper

I think that picture of big boss is pretty awesome... so I removed the numbers and turned it into an easy wallpaper. Widescreen 1440x900 http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/5946/snakea.jpg Standard 1280x1024 http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/6587/snakes.jpg Hope some of you will enjoy it.

@NarooN

Money is the name of the game. If it's economically viable, it could happen. We know Konami was really pushing Kojima to put MGS4 on multiple platforms, who's to say they didn't make an agreement about future MGS games.
by WarNerve - 2009-05-27 13:49:16
Awesome!

Thanks Popson

key clue

read his hat. the words are in french. it reads "Militaires Sans Frontieres" which translates to Military without borders. haha im so smart.
by MagilsugaM - 2009-05-28 01:40:12
YES!

You guys are right that Big Boss has the eye patch. His hat has the foxhound logo and he is quite old. it must be a remake for 1 or 2.
by MagilsugaM - 2009-05-28 01:46:58
Yup

Looks like this bigboss is the one of Outer Heaven. The old evil Big Boss from Metal gear 1 and 2. Or maybe the game is gonna be set on france. I remember that Big Boss body was on europe in MGS4. They didn;t say where but it was probably france. That makes a connection. Remember Big Mama's words!
by Talha03 - 2009-05-28 05:53:22
A random shot at the title

It could be MGS5 Reveloution of the Patriots or even Return of the Patriots
by Popson - 2009-06-01 14:26:07
totally owned- Rising is multiplatform

you'll most likely never read this, but I have to say I told you so. Don't make assumptions.
