Bethesda not talking on Fallout 3 DLC exclusivity deal |
Ó
Last week at E3 unveiled, among many other intriguing things, the exclusive downloadable content for Bethesda's Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360 and the PC. But where oh where was PS3's slice of the pie?Nowhere in sight, you get it right. Lazard Capital Market's analyst Colin Sebastian smartly observes and posits that it could be that Microsoft paid a big lot to Bethesda so that the PS3 won't get a share in the DLC.
I think it's a very good possibility that Microsoft and Bethesda were partners in this decision. Obviously, Microsoft paid up to secure exclusive online content for GTA IV, and online is a cornerstone for Microsoft's digital media strategy.
Despite this obvious speculation, however, Bethesda remains mum on what really led them to award exclusively the Fallout 3 DLC to the Microsoft platforms. "We aren't going to get into the details of the hows and whys," Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines said via email. Further more, there will be no "other qualifiers or clarifications as it relates to the other platforms."
Bethesda's Fallout 3 will be coming out on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC this fall.

This is what is ruining the new games. Coming out with exclusive content for an inferior, out of date, problematic console.
agreed all this silly extra this that and the others for the console war is getting a bit silly . You hear stuff like that DLC for GTA4 have we even seen this yet im sure its prolly crap but the idea to give one console more than the other for sales purposes is lame and in the end will sell less copys of the game than sell more systems
This is ridiculous.
They arent paying to make their console better they are just paying to make the PS3 look worse by taking away its DLC.
Maybe they should focus more on hardware problems than hiding the fact that their console it outdated and going to lose.
I'll admit it makes no difference to me as a multi-format gamer, but I don't see MS as paying to keep content away from the PS3, but instead paying to ADD content for the 360, content which may not have been developed without that incentive (same as GTA4).
That said, we have to wait to find out the real truth behind DLC for Fallout.
I think it's funny how Microsoft gets all this stuff yet in the end it ends up sucking. GTA4 ended up sucking (even the older games were better and Saints Row 2 will be miles ahead of it) and now they are getting exclusive content for a crappy game. Next is Fallout 3 which is another failure of a game. They basically turned a RPG into a FPS just like Shadowrun (which also flopped). FFXIII will also be a flop but that's a given since there hasn't been a good FF game since PS1 (excluding Crisis Core as it was apart of the FF7 storyline and it was on a handheld). Actually, now that I think about it. A lot of RPGs coming out from now to a year (that have been announced so far) actually suck. I have both systems but no RPG really interests me. Star Ocean was always lame, Last Remnant will flop and it looks horrible, Infinite Discovery & Tales of Vesperia have laughable voice acting and lame characters.
You don't say? I never would have known by reading your comment. /end sarcasm
Hmm DNAgent. when did you get the right to judge games before their release. Fallout 3 will be phenomenal, it is also primarily a first person RPG, not a shadowrun imitation as you previously stated. Based on your logic any RPG with guns is not an RPG, so here's an idea. Change your logic.
Having the balls(albeit ridiculous balls) to say Gta IV sucked, when it has proven to be an amazing piece of gaming shows your lack of taste.
I will go as far as say that the majority of the games you state will suck(sony fanboyism), will become blockbusters so at least one particular market whether it be RPGs, FPS, Sandbox Third Person etc.
The only thing you stated which I agree with is that Shadowrun sucked and was not an rpg. But why don't you research fallout 3 a little, and you'll see theres more rpg in there than you came to believe.
Oh and if 99% of gamers believed gta Iv was fantastic, what makes you think your half-witted statements mean anything. You know you got a problem when you start saying games will fail before they're released. Just because you have bad taste doesn't mean they suck.
ur DNA is funny.... i think i should call u joker..... saints row 2 being better than gta4, i hope rockstar nd take two is making SR2, cuz if they aint, then it will be miles away from even coming close to gta4....
"Hmm DNAgent. when did you get the right to judge games before their release. Fallout 3 will be phenomenal"
So he can't judge it as lame before it comes out, but you can judge it as phenomenal? Why because the offical site tells you so? :)
LOL, point taken
to think that saints row 2 will be better then gta4, your na idiot who doesnt appreciate an amazing game.
because the gameplay footage has told us so?
dude there isnt 99% people that believe that gta4 was fantastic... soooo many people hate that game and were very dissapointed in it.... im guessing you based it on the hype that was before it launched cuz after there wasnt nearly 99%... read the forums or comments on articles dude. proof is there.
IMO i hate gta4.. (love rockstar but hate gta4).
Its all about the money at the end of the day - and very few (if any) companies will turn away a sweet deal.
Now if Sony was a little more aggressive with their exclusives I'm sure we'd be looking at things a little differently...and they have plenty of opportunity! Why on earth did they let their exclusive titles slip anyway (FF, GTA, SC, etc.) - all sweet sellers that had fairly unique holds on the market).
Now I only own a PS3 at this point but at this rate I may consider picking up a 360 just to get the best of both worlds...or maybe I'll just pass on them and stick to whatever makes its way to the PS3 (or PC - the titles are like half the price).
In the end the developers (publishers) are also screwing us over though by giving in...all we can hope for is that they fall flat on their faces from a deal that they gave in to.
In my opinion Gta IV is the best one, and I've played every single gta since its conception . This one feel like less quantity, but tons more quality. And I don't know who you speak to because anyone whose really gotten into gta4 can't stop playing it. You're entitled to your opinion of course, at least your not making fanboy based future predictions of games to come.
Don't you hate it how everyone loved final fantasy until it was announced on another system.
Immaturity at its lowest point.
Nothing is stopping Sony from getting their own exclusivity deals. Yet they don't...
Sony man not have as much $ as MS, but certainly enough to secure some deals
and sucked. It didnt acheive the awesomeness GTA sa pulled off - size, scale, content, personalisation and skills, plane? and many more.
Its just another restart of the same old thing.
I'm really starting to hate that company.
