Bethesda: Elder Scrolls V not happening |
Ó
At the QuakeCon 2009, Bethesda's Todd Howard gave a surprising (?) announcement that there is no Elder Scrolls V in development. "Currently," at least.
According to him, "We are working on our next big game but we are not talking about it." And while there is no plans for a fifth installment in the Elder Scrolls franchise, he did say that there is always a "chance" that they'll create an MMO for the series. Well, he reportedly did say that in a joking manner, so don't get your hopes all high up still.
We'll just have to wait for any breaking news on this next big game of theirs.

Big shame they arent planning on one, the Elder Scrolls series has been an amazing series of games. Oblivion has stolen years of my life and i imagine a fifth installment would do the same. However i dont see an MMO being the answer for it so i hope he was joking!! While it could have done with some means of a multi player element, such as 4 player maybe, i think making an MMO from the series would kinda spoil it for me.
Fingers crossed they do make another anyways.
I agree, it was a really good game. For some reason I actually liked Morrowind better... I guess the time in effort into getting that glass armor and trying to steal some pieces without getting caught was just exciting. Not to mention, I really dont know why they got rid of the "levitation" like what was in Morrowind. It was cool how so many cities in that game were so different, but in oblivion they all seemed kind of similiar to me. But I dont know anyone else that I know who shares the same opinion... so its probably just me. Still, it is a shame we wont be seeing another installment.

Thanks for posting that. That makes me feel a lot better. :)
Bethesda isn't the company that handles the MMOs, they have a separate division for that. Also, they didn't discount TES 5 altogether, they just said that they weren't working on it at the moment. That just means that they could just not want to talk about it at the moment:

Hopefully that means that they weren't "currently" working on it, because "currently" they were at Quakecon. Its just wishful thinking, I'm not getting my hopes up.
