Best Buy PS3 stash: seeing the good in the bad |
Ó
He said that "there was no rush, no line, and just a huge stack of consoles there." Kinduv a bit too negative for our liking, so we'll just go ahead and splash in a dose of what's the upside to this.
I just recently got to talk to Mr. Brightside, and sure enough, there actually is a bright side to this. Despite feeling disheartened by this bit of news, someone like me can't help but feel optimistic about it. While some people might be laughing at how "the PS3 units are being ignored", here's a positive thought: at least now, we know where to find a PS3 unit and the pic above is proof for it.
To hell with Sony haters. I know where the end of the rainbow is.

you cant expect them to be sold out till next year, so more scenes like this will enebitabltly appear
Some areas have no PS3s while some do.
Some people drive around an entire day with no PS3 to make up for it while some people drive to a game store to find several in stock.
Its all about demand in certain locations.
every best buy in the metro orlando area has atleast 10 ps3's sitting on the shelf at this moment. if you want one now is the time to get one. my friend owns a small independent videogame store and has had one since a week before christmas (60gb) with a retail sticker price and the only thing anyone ever mentions about it is "uhh... no... got any wii's?" seriously, theyre sitting on shelves. the hype is over, reality has set it, and truth be told it just doesnt have $500 worth of fun to offer *right now* and people understand it. im beginning to understand what ms meant when they said they couldnt wait for ps3's launch because it's easier to fight a product than a myth. sorry guys, just the way it is, and the stacks of consoles, lack of lines, and sales numbers show it. check back in a year, assuming ms doesnt come out with some killer software, drop the price, and just take over by then (which is looking probable at this point) it will be a whole different story.
too expensive
no great games yet
people forget that:
#1 Christmas just passed by so everyone is already tapped from that, not going to spend $600 right after for a ps3, unless they were saving for it.
#2 Every best buy post-christmas week was shipped a stock of 20-35 PS3s. Considering that particular best buy was down to 17, isn't bad. My Best Buy for instance was down to 5 when I showed up the other day at around noon.
#3 stop listening to MS fanboys that think because the ps3 is on shelves, it is a disaster. Anyone remember the 360 launch? overabundance everywhere...
too expensive , no great games yet, weak launch. is true , even ps3 fans knows it
the best buy closest to my house had 40 this morning,
and when i was there buying a cd,
they still had 33 left,
people were in line this morning but only 7 were sold.
They said that "sony would not let us sell them until december 31st"
i've had my ps3 since november 23rd,
but it's good to know that it's easier to find one now
:]
i went to buy my ps3 yesturday 12/31/06 and there were like 12 ps3 i took mines and walk around best buy for a minute and everyone i passed by asked me were i got mines and i told them in the ps2 section ... they all looked like they were looking for them but didn't know where they were... there was a stay of Wii's and xbox360 but poeple didn't even cared!
Sure there are not alot of PS3 games out right now but that will change. I own Resistance Fall Of Man and I can tell you that it is worth the money. I have gotten many hours worth of entertainment out of this game and the graphics and story are crazy. The graphics are very detailed and fast and the story is pretty good and keeps you wondering what next is about to happen. Sorry to tell you but anyone who doesn't own a PS3, you are missing out of great experiences and I look forward to future ones. I am sure that ps3.qj.net will keep you up to date on all the great news to come for the PS3 and I hope all that wants one will get one soon.
Resistance and Fight Night are very good and more are sure to come soon!
I am not disappointed yet but I think others might.
point and LAUGH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHA
I also got my PS3 12/31/06 and the line was long. There were plenty of 360s on the floor but no Wiis. I was seventh so I got my PS3 quick, brought Resistance and NFS: Carbon, and now I am enjoying myself waiting for Heavenly Sword.
This is just proof that Sony is actually making an effort to ship more consoles. The only reason 360 was sold out for so long is because Microsoft just stopped shipping them even though they said they were doing "weekly shipments."
Actually, not alot of people know about these weekly shipments except us people who look on the internet alot. I don't know if they announce these shipments in the news or in these retail stores. Calling these stores aren't really so helpful to people. I'm glad i have a PS3 since November, lol i had to get one and people aren't equipped with the moolah in stores after Christmas i believe. After more people start getting their paychecks expect more systems to be bought.
playstation 3's are like good hookers, let me elaborate, they both feel good in the beginning and empty your wallet
i still dint get ee eett mine WAAAW WAAAAAAHH! !!!!!! : (
LONG B3ACH IN THIS!! I WAS TH3R3 I DIDNT G3T ON3 CUZ I GOT ON3 AT LAUNCH AND THATS NOT LONG B3ACH. THATS IN SIGNAL HILL TH3R3S NO BEST BUY IN LONG B3ACH. MY COUSINS DAUGHT3R GOT IT THO.
This is a good trick sony played.. 2 week ago i saw at walmart site they were taking orders for PS3 with lots of games , i.e a bundle for 1K..
When I went to bestbuy I was surprised and excited to see it and I brought it without second thought..
I am really amazed with its powerful features.
I have connected my external HDD to it and I can watch the videos..
The Web browser is great.
All my PS2 games run just fine.. I dont have a HD TV so I dont see any difference between it and ps2.
This is surely a Good gift for me for New Year!!
here in miami, it has been impossible to get one, no matter where you go. i got one online, through circuitcity, after the order i checked and it was sold out. it has some really good graphics, makes my wii look like crap. the stores here havent had them since it came out, and they still dont. ive gone to best buys and other big stores, allot of 360's laying arround but everyone seeking wii's and ps3's.
I was suprised that my small town local Wal-Mart had one 20gb in stock. Walked through the electronics section out of curiosity, like I always do, and there was a 20 gig just sitting there, screaming to be baugh!
Got mine on launch, though. :0)
Almost everybody on this page is making excuses why a PS3 is easily available now. Microsoft shipped more XBOX 360s last year and still had supply problems until March. Accept it, PS3 is and will always be a failure.
i remember it being quite difficult to get a 360 for months leading into spring...
I sadly have to agree. At my best buy they had 65 60GB units, and none of them were selling. I want to buy one so bad, being a technophile, but im not jumping on a sinking ship.
i remember it being quite easy to get a 360 for months leading into spring. My friends and I waited till the next spring to get ours and it was easy to snatch on up.
They saw how the PS2 retailed for like 300 bux but price drops brought the price tag down more and more (Itsn't it like 130 right now?). So why not get a Wii or 360 now and then wait for the PS3 price to drop? Plus the game libary is lacking right now, why would I want to buy a system that cost 600 when I can buy a system that cost 250 and play the same game? Blu-Ray? huh'? What's blu-ray?
I think sales will start up once prices go down or more exclusive games are released.
Correction to the Subject.
When PS3s weren't available people complained, saying it was doomed. When they are available, people are saying it is doomed. What is up?
As a owner of all 3 systems, I can definitely say I got the full package with my Wii and PS3 and don't feel like I've been ripped off. I've been nickeled and dimed with my 360 - want rechargeable batteries, pay for it - want a bigger hard drive, pay for it (only get 8GB with 20GB "premium" system) - want HDDVD, pay for it - want a wireless adapter, pay for it. The wireless adapter is most surpising as even the Wii included it and everywhere you look XBox Live is touted as the 360s best selling point. Of course, you got to pay for that too.
In the end, the 360 will have cost much more then my 60GB PS3 at their current retail prices. The 360 is great fun to play and I like Gears of War alot, but Resistance blows any of MS launch games out of the water.
MS is all about choices right? In the process though, they dig a mightly deep hole in your pockets to give you all those "choices".
techgirl78 is bang on. I also own all three systems, and if I have to feel "ripped off" about any of them, it's the 360. The extra money I've sunk into the wi-fi adapter, battery charger, hd-dvd accessory and Xbox live memberships is FAR beyond the price of the 60GB PS3... not sure why people aren't seeing this. It's a beautiful machine, just like the Wii and the 360 and I don't regret it or feel ripped off at all about buying it.
i think it's because you're a girl that they listen...go figure -_-;;
If you're complaining about the price of the add-ons (after you supposedly buy all 3 systems)why are you buying every one? You do not need a wireless adaptor to connect to XBOX live, you do not need the HD-DVD drive to watch movies and you do not need rechargable batteries to use a controller. Only true gaystation fanboys act like you need all this. YOU'RE BUSTED
People don't understand the PS3 was doomed from the start. People were expecting a powerful system at a (relatively) low price like the PS2 was. The PS2 had almost no competition the first year. Lots of exclusive games came and it didn't matter the graphics were inferior.
Then sony decided to change...
Instead of a game console, they had to try to make some supercomputer. They're so hell bent on the blu ray format succeeding, they had to add that, adding at least $200 to the price tag. Then they gave it an expensive hard to program processor that's better at movie playback than game playback. At the last minute add Wii ripoff motion sensing, reveal backward compatibility is worse than announced and remove the second HDMI and 2 ethernet ports.and slap it with a $600 price tag a year later than the competition and six months later than promised.
Their main strategy to sell them? Convince people they need a half-assed internet browser, limited computer functions, HD movie player, and useless PSP connectivity.
I have an XBOX 360 and I have not bought any add-ons which is what you should do instead of complaining. But you really don't have a 360 do you?
just buy the ps3 y wud u want a 360 wen u can get the best system ever?
I wouldn't classify myself as an impulse buyer. I wanted a PS3 as the PS2 graphics were not very good on my projection television. The PS3 was delayed and Oblivion was scheduled to release. There were a few other 360 games already out that looked cool, so I purchased one about a year ago. In the past year, I have had a great deal of fun with my 360 and bought a number of 360 games.
The Wii looked like it would be fun for the kid, so got her one for Christmas - besides the 360 and PS3 both do not really cater nicely to younger children. She's really happy that she has "her" game console now.
Have I bought the HDDVD - No. I did however buy a 1 year subscription to XBox Live and some rechargeable batteries for my controllers. Is it required? No, but I like online play (main selling point of XBox) and the batteries were constantly dying. This makes the premium 360 system close in price to the low end PS3 with a 20 GB hard drive. I also had to buy a wireless adapter for my 360. Was it a requirement - yes. I have a wireless network in my house and it would be very difficult to run cables from my 2nd floor office to my basement rec room. The PS3 came with one. The Wii came with one. Add it up and I probably paid about $50.00 for my blu ray player and an additional 40 GB - well worth it to me. Nice for downloads and I also liked watching The Decent in HD very much last night.
For people trying to build up a system, the 360 may be the best route. For people really into online gaming even if it costs them a bit a year to do it, the 360 likely is a good route. For me, I like many of the exclusive games on both systems and look forward to new versions. Did I buy the PS3 a bit soon? Maybe, but my fiance' really wanted one and I surprised him for Christmas. If it was only for me, I probably would have waited until Heavenly Sword was released to buy it.
I don't have much weight to either side, as indicated I really have enjoyed playing Gears of War recently. Resistance, I think most people will agree is better then PDZ. Most were disappointed this time last year by MS launch games as well. I just don't like people pointing at Sony for not having enough and then pointing again about having too many. I also don't like when people bring up the prices of the systems as they are relatively comparable in terms of what the systems offer. If you don't like what either offers, then do as you are and only buy one.
In the end, it comes down to the games and the gameplay. That is what it is about and all 3 systems will have their fair share of good exclusives and uniqueness.
Oh, BTW, my PS3 has played all of the PS2 games that I tried. I think initial reports were that 200 of the 8000 or so PS and PS2 games had issues of varying degress - correct me if this isn't accurate. The 360, on the other hand, only supported around a hundred games when I got one 2 months after launch and now supports around 350. This doesn't matter of course if you only play newer releases.
If you don't believe I own a 360, I don't know what to say. I hear similar things echoed by people who own all 3. Do you need a picture?
LOL yeah they have a ***** load of PS3's were I live. Sucks to be sony!
hi everybody,
i would like to say a couple of things, first off, i like the 360 and the ps3 very much, i own them both, they each have there ups and downs, i recently installed linux on my ps3 and i must say typing a word document on a 60 inch sony is pretty sweet! anyways a word of advice to people looking 2 buy just one system, like i was many moths ago, go with what u like, if its shooters (gears of war, lost planet, etc.) get a 360, if its overall get a ps3, wait a year, just like i did for my 360, and theyll have some great games, i mean it took em a year for gears right? give sony a break, give em a year, and be happy! and if u want 2 be diffenrt, get a wii. i must admit though that i am a bit lazy and i dont want 2 come home from work and be all active with motion sensing and crap, which is what turned me off instantly, but give sony a chance k? sure they have some glitches, but does any1 rmeber the 360 launch? i certainly do, overheating problems, lasers burinig through ceilings (joke), but they were eating some discs, so give em a chance, a year, thats it, come back here winter 07 and everyones gonna be like hmmmmmmmmmm. ***** sony aint that bad. k? peace.
