Ben Heck's one-handed PS3 controller now available for pre-orders |
Ó
Last year, some of you guys may recall that Benjamin J. Heckendorn (aka Ben Heck) had begun work on an experimental one-handed controller for the PlayStation 3. It was still in the pre-production phase then, and was planned to be put into mass production by eDimensional.com.That said, Ben Heck is happy to report that the manufacturer is now nearing the controller's manufacturing stage. Close enough, it seems, that you can now pre-order the unit.
Much like its early conception, the production version of the Access controller will enable its users to interchange its five button modules according to their personal taste. The unit's been confirmed for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PCs, and will sell for US$ 129.95. Those interested in making their reservations will want to visit eDimentional's site via the source link below.

to let the handicap beable to pay, but lets not forget hes making profit and judging from the price of £75 it is way , way overpriced, he couldve gotten away with£40, £75 is a hug rip off, considering you can buy a ps3 controller for around £30 (this is what the ps2 controller used to cost, i dont know about the ps3), and rip it apart and make youre own
after that probably what he did, ofcourse changed a few other things but the principals there

Imagine if you were physically disabled by birth defect, accident or illness and had limited mobility. Say you're stuck at home most of the time or even if you do get out a fair amount but would like to pick up a new hobby that you can do in the comfort of your home. This could be the difference maker that helps bring some joy to many people's lives. I think the customizable pad for one hand is a great idea. Mostly I'm thankful that I don't need one. Who knows what the future will bring though.

its not the idea or looks, its the price
get someone to rip up an old ps3 controller and get a cover for it and your sorted
why pay £70 for something which you can do for £40
its a total and utter rip off

Imagine a you have a big ball of clay in your fist: squeeze it until your hand is half-closed, chop of the unnecessary parts, add thumbsticks under your thumb and index finger (one could act as the d-pad), then add self-centering rocker switches under the other fingers such that each switch can act as two buttons. Add additional buttons near the thumb and index finger as necessary.
Now, chop it into four pieces such that each finger wraps around a separate piece and put an adjustable screw through that so that you can use a screwdriver to adjust the pieces to be further apart - custom fit for any size hand.
Now, make it so that the whole thing is tilt sensitive, or can rest on a surface and operate as a mouse. Ether way, you get your other analog control.
Most importantly, make it RECHARGEABLE.
