Ben Heckendorn's PS3 Slim laptop

If you think Ben Heckendorn's modding skills are confined only to the Xbox 360, you're wrong. The guy also uses his masterful hands to turn other consoles into portable works of art. Case in point, this PS3 Slim laptop.


In 35 days, the celebrated modder turned a regular store-bought PS3 Slim into a quiet little portable powerhouse. The PS3 Slim laptop includes a 17" widescreen panel, built-in speakers with their own volume control buttons, and plenty of vents for cooling. Thanks to the Slim's smaller hardware, Ben Heck also managed to include a power cord compartment.

If only the Slim had the install Other OS feature of the large PS3 then it could be a proper little Linux laptop as well as being a great console.

but really, this looks sicckkk, but like the others say, a keyboard would be nice...and the color looked kind of bland. Light gray on white? i think he could of had far better looking colors

this wouldn't be something you use on the go, I mean you could use it if you go to a friend house (system link) or you could use it on a plane when traveling, otherwise at home when your tv is being occupied by someone else

I haven't really looked at this one just yet, but with his 360 laptops, you could still hook it to your tv, so it has all the funtionality of a ps3, PLUS you can take it with you and easily set it up elsewhere. Wanna' get in a few rounds of Motorstorm on your lunch break? Bust out your handy ps3 laptop.



True, it wouldn't be all that practical as an actual portable (like on a bus or whatever) but it's a nice "semi-portable" setup.

He used to put keyboards in his 360 laptops but he stopped doing it on the more recent ones 'cuz they're pretty much pointless. Sure, you could use the keyboard for web browsing or whatever, but who uses their ps3 for that? And with no linux capability, it's just a game machine.
