BBC iPlayer - Image 1The BBC's iPlayer, which was launched for the Nintendo Wii last week, has already been proven to work on Sony's PlayStation 3 home video game console thanks to the ps3iplayer website, a homebrew solution that put the BBC's iPlayer on the Sony console.

While ps3iplayer.com isn't an official portal from the BBC, it has nonetheless caught the attention of Anthony Rose, the BBC's head of digital media technology.

Rose posted on his blog that an official iPlayer for the BBC is still being worked on:

We're investigating the optimal video profile and browser proposition to enable us to officially make iPlayer available on PS3 in due course.

Rose didn't mention any specifics, but it may take some time due to their limited resources. Keep checking back here for more updates.

I love how their claims about blaming Sony were proven as a lie, and now they are giving in.
