Bayonetta - Image 1

Quite unsurprisingly, Hideki Kamiya's new action extravaganza Bayonetta (PS3, Xbox 360) has been slapped with a Mature rating by the ESRB. I didn't really expect anything less from a game with a dominatrix as the heroine.

The usual reasons -- violence, suggestive themes and language, and gallons of blood -- were cited. The ESRB was also kind enough to describe some of Bayonetta's "Torture Attack" finishing moves:

Players use hand-to-hand combat, magic attacks, and pistols to kill enemy creatures that often spray blood when hit. Players can also perform an assortment of over-the-top finishing moves – referred to in the game as "torture attacks" – on the creatures: impalement with an iron maiden; decapitation with a guillotine; dismemberment with a chainsaw; and summoning a demon that bites, then rips characters apart.

As for the suggestive themes and language part, jigglies (which apparently get close-up shots from time to time) were cited, as were strong profanity in the dialogue and the characters' provocative outfits. You can read the full ESRB summary at the Via link. Platinum Games and Sega's Bayonetta is slated for release later this year.

» Riiiight.

You're SO NOT INTERESTED, you're checking out an article for this game. I feel sorry for you that the Wii can't handle this game, and you're gonna miss out on this. The producer of the original is Devil May Cry, and Okami is responsible for this game. Both of which are critically acclaimed AAA games. Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2? Lame joke right? Don't worry when Wii HD hits maybe you'll get a port of this awesome game, then you can moan about how glad you were that you waited to play it. But you'll play through it all and even though you enjoyed it, will still say it wasn't worth your time.

Look Link, if you need a friend or something, we can play Super Smash Bros Brawl together. But I'd be inclined to use Meta Knight and own you at that unbalanced trash you'd call a good fighting game.

Doesn't seem much like news... more like 'well duh'.

» Oh Yeah!

Rated M for Mature! I'm definitely picking this one up now. Thanks ESRB! Show me the way!!!

» your funny bandit

a had all 3 systems sold the wii cause it was boring and it geared toward kids not the old school stuff. Okami had lots of bugs which didnt make it that great of a game. Imma pick up prototype instead of this game. An as for super smash if you use meta knight then i can easily beat you with ness cause all meta knight users want to do is the drill spin and super smash is a good fighting game better than MK vs DC which you probably like.

» lol.

I don't play crap fighting games, thank you. Lawls, I'm sure you "sold" your wii.I didn't play Okami, but the PS2 version(think they made a wii version?) got critical acclaim. You're right about me being funny, because Smash Bros is a joke of a fighting game. I play the real good stuff, youngster. SF4, SC4, Tekken, BlazBlue, and Virtua Fighter. If you read some of my comments you'd know that already, though.

It's funny how you use that whole "I own all 3" BS to justify your bias. Just admit you suck Nintendo nuts and keep your garbage on Wii forums or something.

» lawls I just noticed.

For someone that "sold his boring wii" you know a lot about SSBB. I only know Meta Knight is a the top-tier fighter, and that SSBB is horribly unbalanced. NOT saying it can't be a fun game in its own right, but I'm a competitive type.

» yes i can see

it now, children will have this in their hands and it will turn them all into leather wearing serial killers that focus on doing torture attacks to their 5 month old baby sisters... then jack thompson will definatly be getting out his vaseline and tweezers with a picture of xbo 360 to stroke off too, im just glad that with the release of the lost and the damned, jack is now playing his 360 all day to find anything he can use. and hence leaves playstation alone for just one more day. I think jack thompson was born from a xbox 360, how else could he become so stupid?

» Was expecting

This "news". All I had to hear was "Creator of Devil May Cry" + "New IP" and I was sold. Can't wait for the game.

Not surprising in the least. And i'm definitely picking this up at some point. It's difficult, has trophies with it, and looks to be a great action title, considering the main guy who did DMC1 is doing it.
