Platinum Games and Sega have finally set a date for Bayonetta's PS3 and Xbox 360 demo. In Japan at least. They've also announced that the demos will be different across the two systems. The difference? An extra stage for the Xbox 360 version.

The 770MB Xbox 360 demo, which will make landfall on October 8, will feature three stages: a tutorial, The Angel's Metropolis stage, and the Falling Clock Tower prologue stage. The 1,196MB PS3 demo, which will also be released on the same day, will only have the tutorial and the Angel's Metropolis stage.

Some graphical issues in the game's PS3 version have already led some people to believe that it will be sub-par compared to the one for the Xbox 360, and now this? It's not a concern for those who have both systems, but it's really starting to feel like PS3 gamers are getting the short end of the stick here.

» Crazy!

So, the 360 version is 770MBs and has three stages and the PS3 is about a gig and some change and it only has two? That sounds a** backwards, but it kind of makes sense since the 360 has a more efficient file system due to the fact it's a Microsoft product. This is really starting to irk me hardcore though. I've got both systems, but I really like use my PS3. But most of the time I have to default to the 360 for one reason or another! I need to play something on my PS3! That's okay Uncharted will be out soon! :)

it's because the two versions are being made by 2 different developers. The 360 version by the actual developers and the ps3 port by Sega. If platinum games doesn't care about the quality of their ps3 version then why should I care about their game.

» Why don't we wait until 10/08?

**Rumors** of 'graphical issues' aside, ...why don't we just wait a lousy 7 more days to see if those rumors are really true, without everyone getting their undergarments in a bunch?

I mean, yes: 'code bloat' on the PS3 version *could* be the reason for a much larger executable size. ...But, it *could* also be a sign that the PS3 version is actually graphically *better* than the 360 version, no? --I mean, if the executable is bigger, but has less levels, then it could be due to the assets or music files being superior in quality and requiring more data-size.

A bit premature to check another mark in the 360 column just because you get to do more in the 360 demo. Last I recall, the demos were enticements to BUY THE GAME, and not the 'end-statement' of what the game is about.

CLIFF BLESZINSKI SPEAKS THE TRUTH!!!

These are straight quotes from the devs themselves.

“We developed this initially for the Xbox 360, later giving all the game data to Sega for them to develop a PS3 version; we then advised them and supervised their development of the PS3 version.â€

and

“With the differences between the 360 and PS3’s hardware, of course differences will emerge, but I hope everyone will be able to see for themselves that we have adapted each version’s code to the peculiarities of the hardware in question.â€

Well, third party devs seems to always make it look better and work better on the Xbox for unknown reasons (no fanboy) but this youtube video will best sum things up about third party development with Xbox the ps3.

So the people coding the PS3 version can't actually code very well for PS3 at all? This is why I look to companies like Insomniac and Naughty Dog. People who actually make proper PS3 games and not crap ports.
