Electronic Arts have announced that the critically acclaimed first-person shooter multiplayer game Battlefield 1943 will be available on July 8 on Xbox Live marketplace for 1200 MS points and on July 9 on the Playstation Network for US$ 15.00.

The game that has been redesigned by the folks at DICE will introduce two new modes that can be played along the classic Battlefield tropical WWII maps Wake Island, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and Coral Sea. The PC version of the game will be released in September.

» WTF?

12,000 MS points? I've heard of 1200 MS points but not 12,000!

» Typo

I would hope anyway. Seriously, why does MS have to use points? In the end, it's money. Just lable it as such. It's like MS has created their own currency, and I'm just trading in my US dollars for MS money.

Anyway, I'm excited about this game. $15 for an online shooter. A Battlfield game to boot. Too bad it has to be 1943 and not 2009. Hell, I would even be happy with Bietnam! WWII, here I come...AGAIN!

» There is a point to the system

And it's to make money (surprise surprise). MS makes sure to price everything on XBL in denominations you can't buy, ie this game costs 1200 points, you'll need to buy either a 1600 point card or 1000 points + 500 points on the marketplace. You always have to buy more points than you need

Everything is like that, something costs 400 points, you need to buy 500 points, something costs 560 you need to buy 1000, something costs 800, you need to buy 1000.

It works out fine if you spend every last point on something or other, but most people don't.

Anyway, YAY BF1943! Buying this as soon as it's up

» master is right

and i like how they make some things such as rockband tracks 160points. im stuck with 20 unused points at the moment lol

» same with PSN

kinda.......you have to add money to the account in $5, $10 and so on

so if you get something 13 (worms for example), you have 2 dollars left....which is totally useless lest you want to buy a LBP costume or one of those worthless PSN Themes

» Yep

You usually end up having to buy something useless or just let the points sit there. Might as well spend them since MS/Sony already have your money

It usually works out that even when you have points left over and something else comes out you want, you can't add the lowest amount of points and still buy that thing. If you want something for 800 points, you buy 1000, buy that thing for 800, have 200 left. Something else comes for 800 points, you can't add 500 because 500 + 200 + 700. You need to buy another 1000 points. They have all this sh*t figured out
