Sega
of America, Inc. and Sega Europe Ltd. have announced the
development of a brand new Sonic title, Sonic The Hedgehog, intended
for the Playstation 3, and the Xbox
360. It is set to be spearheaded by the game-developing legend, equal
only to Sonic's legendary character, Yuki Naka, known more for his
successful manning of the Sega franchise.Sega hopes to reinvent one of the most popular and classical character in the world of gaming by combining art, physics (wow, they're actually trying to give sense to Sonic's insane speed this time, I bet it's with the shoes), and game design. With innovative means and methods, Sega and Mr. Naka expects to create the most intense sensation of speed ever experienced in videogames; in short, vintage Sonic the Hedgehog.
The game is projected to ship on multiple platforms coinciding with the character's 15th anniversary in 2006. Sega hopes to raise the
bar for action gaming as it did when it debuted on the SEGA Genesis in
1991 with Sonic's speed and equally quick and witty attitude.Mr. Yuki Naka aims to give justice to the legend that is Sonic, adding that "the 'rebirth of Sonic' will offer an unparalleled sense of speed that is only possible using the processing power afforded by the new systems". Judging by the current repertoire of action-related games, Sonic ironically needs more than his speed to keep up with the competition.
