Assassin's Creed PS3 version won't be released in Japan? |
Ó
Assassin's Creed by Ubisoft (for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC) will hit Japanese shores on November 29, but it looks like it's going to be an Xbox 360 exclusive in Japan, at least for now. The official Japanese Ubisoft website only has an Xbox 360 version listed, with nary a PS3 version to be found despite the fact that there's no more problems with both versions of the game. This doesn't necessarily mean that Assassin's Creed will be an Xbox 360 exclusive, though. But it just is interesting to note since Ubisoft's game is given a CERO Z rating, or the rough equivalent of a Mature-rated 18+ game in Japan.
The significance of this fact is that Microsoft's next-gen console has the most number of CERO Z-rated games in Japan. As such, it is then possible that Ubisoft sees mature games as better aimed at the Japanese Xbox 360 demographic.
Hmmm... a wholesome PS3. Now that's news.

better aimed at the 360...?
QJ is full of idiots.... And why would they dev a PS3 version and not sell it in japan?
microsoft paid them because no one in japan has or wants a 360 and they want to sell more 360's there
Or it is just a misprint and they forgot to put ps3 on the page. Lets just see when the Japanese release date gets closer.
Enchanted arms was stated as x360 exclusive even a bit after the ps3 version popped.
But anyway, even if it was exclusive, the x360 version NOR the ps3 version would sell a lot... lol. The japs didn't buy the prince of persia games so I don't see how they could now "miraculously" love the evolution of the title...
and I never saw an american game being popular in japan anyway. I mean, why should they bother with not perfect tradction when they have thousands of titles in japanese? It's like seeing an american renting a french movie, it's almost a "WHAT?".
Anyway, the game will be GREAT! and I'll buy it at launch!
ahhh... cultured americans... I was under the impression that all yanks had a copy of "Mouchette", "La Moustache" and "Amélie" in their DVD collections as standard!
Jesting aside, I'd assume that it's merely a misprint, although it might be worth taking into account the demographic...
The Xbox 360 did not sell well in Japan as Western tastes are different to Eastern tastes (the 360 adhering to western tastes more than eastern)... As Assassin's creed is a western game it may have been supposed that the title would flop in the country, as such, to test the waters they'd release it only on the 360...
the Japanese consumers who purchased 360s are likely to be more interested in Western releases than the majority of gamers out there who stick to more localised releases and are therefore more likely to buy Assassin's creed than PS3 gamers... to save on production costs perhaps they chose to only release the title on the format they expected greater sales on.
in summary, japanese consumers who purchased 360s may also be inclined to purchase Assassins Creed, the average PS3 owner is likely to not give a damn.
