Assassin's Creed Officially Announced for Xbox 360 |
Listed in: PS3, Xbox 360 Tags: playstation 3 updates, PS2, Sony, Ubisoft
Ó
Xbox 360 faithfuls rejoice, sing out, do a cartwheel, eat ice cream, dance the cha-cha, and get down on your knees and pray thanks to whoever it is that you pray to, because Ubisoft - the same company that created the Prince of Persia trilogy for the ps2">ps2">PS2 - has finally sent out word to the world that YES, Assassin's Creed WILL be coming to your beloved console as well. Along with these announcement are two screens for the said green and mean machine.
Months of guessing if it will be exclusive for the PS3 and the announcement days ago that the title will be available on the PC may have prompted this follow-up. It has also been noted that the release of Assassin's Creed for the Xbox 360 will coincide with its PS3 release in the first quarter of 2007.
And so Altair marches to an even broader horizon...

Oh umm by the way. I'm very happy AC will come to the 360 because well yea not only will it be considered part of the 2nd generation of games on the 360 but it'll have rumble features as well. Not this 'we don't have rumble becuse it effects the motion sensitivity' rrrright or they're to cheap to settle the lawsuit so they CAN have rumble tech... eh ah well

Every time I look at PS3 stories on PS3 dedicated sites there are always a ton of 360 guys that show up to defend their lame system. I just don't understand it. I don't ever go to 360 sites because the system sucks. There is really nothing that the 360 has that I have interest in (other then the rumble for the controllers). The recent news for Resistance: Fall of Man proves what direction this counsel war is going. The 360 is not really full next gen. It's more like better graphics with a ton of pricey add-ons. 360 guys biggest defense is "at least they gave us a choice." It's not just a blue ray player, you are getting next gen tech. More space means more benefits for games.
I don't care if AC is going to XBOX, at least these guys will have more of a defense other than HALO. Newsflash - HALO sucks. That game really sucks, even if it was on PS it would still suck. I just don't care about spacemen.
Okay, I'm off my soapbox. 360 guys, go to your MS site so you can hear what game are now backward compatible and how much more of your 20 gigs that it will take up to become a little more next gen. I'm curious, when I see the display of 360 in stores are the load times always that long? That's just as long as current gen load times.

And here you've directed your post towards someone it doesn't apply to AGAIN (I've seen daz's post before, he IS a sony fan!).
With a few edits here and there, you seem to have a lot to say about things you claim you don't care about. Anyway, try thinking of something ELSE to say now, but above all, make your post relevent to the gamers you're responding to.

Just imagine how the 360 will look two years from now. It will have a add on dvd, hdmi, wi-fi, 1080p (somehow), more hard drive. - Now we can compare apples to apples, now it looks more like a PS3. Now which one is more expensive again?
Come on say it....."well, at least they give us a choice!"
(Do they give you a choice with those online fees?)

Ubisoft needs to make money. That's all it is. They spent too much on production to make it exclusive to just one system.
Doesn't matter about graphics or high Def. Assassin's Creed for Xbox 360 is great for gamers everywhere. Now we don't have to spend $600 to play it.
The next one will be Metal Gear Solid 4. Watch. Eventually. That game won't stay exclusive that long. I explained this about PS2 and Gamecube with Resident Evil 4. It's going to happen again with MGS 4 no matter what Hideo Kojima says. He's a known liar. It's really up to Konami.

Hey where did all those SONY Fanboys go , the ones who were so sure this was their exlusive . IM not surprised they dont dare to show their faces.

also No 360 game is on 2 discs yet load times havent been proved as faster and from what ive seen 360 has far better exclusives, in the list of games you mentioned only a few even look decent. if thats all sony has left to brag about now i dont see why people will even bother spending $600 on it.

Anyway, we have no details about Assassin's Creed to make judgements on the quality of the graphics between versions. Will the 360 version require two discs? How much will be available as downloadable content on both consoles? How EXACTLY are they going to use the extra space on Blu-ray discs? etc.
Let's wait and see.

Five years down the road the 360 is going to look really crarzy b/c it will have add-ons and cords all over the place. I think that I made my case on which system is better by specs and games.
A few years in the near future will DVD9's be the standard, I doubt it. I also think that 1080p will be a lot more common as well. I don't know if the PS3 will do the 10 years those guys or saying but I'm sure that it will do a lot more than the 360 (screw add-ons).

And how is the cheaper PS3 any better? Except for Blu-ray (where the 360 has an HD-DVD add-on for MOVIES only), those PS3 gamers do not have HDMI, they don't have 60GB HDDs and will have to upgrade just like 360 gamers, they don't have wi-fi so again an add-on is needed, and they don't have support for flash memory cards and will also require an add-on.
1080p is only an advantage if you're talking about 60fps. At 30fps, 1080i looks just as good as 1080p on on a TV which deinterlaces properly.
As for better load times, Blu-ray 2x is actually slower than DVD 12x, it's about the equivalent of a DVD 8x drive (and is rated as DVD 8x in the official specs). Therefore load times will only be better if the HDD is used, but how willing are you to have games dumping GBs of content onto your HDD to speed up load times? And if you're thinking of caching, well it's no different between the two consoles except that gamers with the core 360 don't benefit from disc caching (Oblivion on the 360 caches to the HDD for gamers with a HDD).
In otherwords, don't expect load times to be any better or worse between the 360 and PS3. It will vary from game to game.
As for your games list, the quality of each and what they mean to the console and the gamers is just a matter of opinion.

if Assassins Creed was annouced to NOT show up on the 360....all the PS3 fanboys would celebrate and talk crap....
But now that its coming to the 360 they are like...

Sureeeeeeee. Have you heard the reports that 720p may actually be better than 1080i? Please don't compare 1080i to 1080p. If that was the case, then people would just buy those tvs instead of paying high price (like I did) for a 1080p tv (56in Samsung if your curious).

This isn't about PS3 vs 360 (although some will assume it is). The highest HDTV broadcasts are also 1080i, not 1080p, therefore it is important to have a TV that deinterlaces properly.
For example, from Home Theatre Magazine;
Are You Getting All the HDTV Resolution You Expected?:
http://blog.hometheatermag.com/geoffreymorrison/
Aug 7th
"In this case, the only difference between 1080i and 1080p is where the de-interlacing is done. If you send 1080i, the TV de-interlaces it to 1080p. If you send your TV the 1080p signal, the player is de-interlacing the signal. As long as your TV is de-interlacing the 1080i correctly, then there is no difference. Check out this article for more info on that....
... The only time you would see a difference is if you have native 1080p/60 content, which at this point would only come from a PC and maybe the __PS3__. 1080p/60 does have more information than 1080i/30, but unless you're a gamer you will probably never see native 1080p/60 content. It is incredibly unlikely that they will ever broadcast 1080p (too much bandwidth) or that 1080p/60 content will show up on discs (too much storage space and no one is using it to record/film)."
And read the latest responses and replies, eg;
Aug 16th
"First, I want to be clear that resolution and interlacing are two completely different things. 1080i and 1080p are exactly the same resolution. This is more a difference of frame rate, really. 1080i has 30 different frames, and these are interlaced (split in half if you will), and flashed on the screen fast enough that your brain combines them into full frames. 1080p is (as far as we're talking) 60 different frames per second. So there are, as far as the format goes, twice as many frames as 1080i. What the last post discussed is that as far as HD DVD and Blu-ray are concerned, those extra frames are created by the player, and not in the source. So in this case there is basically no (Ok Aron, very, very slight) difference between 1080i and 1080p, as long as the de-interlacing is done correctly."

However, to see your TV at it's best, you'll need to be playing a PS3 game at 1080p and running at 60fps.

1080p--- is only better if it's 1080p/60fps
Less than two disc for a game-- no 360 game spans over 1 disc

have i ever said that Assassin's Creed would be PS3 exclusive? no i didn't. i've always said that i thought it was multi-platform, but Sony was probably trying to secure exclusive rights. Ubisoft kept mum about other possible versions until negotions with Sony were ironed out. and at worst, it would be a timed exclusive. i didn't think it would be a simultaneous release. that is the only area in which i was wrong.
whether or not MGS4 goes multiplatform is not an issue, since i plan on owning a PS3 regardless. basically, the multiplatform announcement is good for the 5 million 360 owners out there that now don't have to shell out $600 for a PS3 and Assassin's Creed. that's good news for 360 owners. but i'm still purchasing my PS3 this year, so any titles that are multiplatform that interest me will be bought for my PS3. there's no point in 360 owners buying a PS3 if they don't want one, and no point in PS3 owners buying a 360 if they don't want one.
and i shouldn't have to remind you that the PS2 has sold 100 million units *plus*, while the original X Box has only sold 25 million units. the Playstation has a huge following. the PS1 and PS2 sold 10 million units in their first years. after that first year and price drops, the console went on to sell the above mentioned total of over 100 million. so far, in it's first year, the X Box 360 is only halfway to 10 million units. it has roughly 2 months to sell 5 million more units. if it was a bigger success in Japan, it would have met that number already.
in it's first year, i'm pretty positive that the PS3 can meet it's 10 million unit mark by November 17, 2007 or very close to it (about 8 to 9 million). why i can predict that is because we know that all 3 territories (US, UK, and Japan) really like the Playstation brand. also taking into account that most Europeans had to pay over $500 USD for their PS2's they aren't unaccustomed to paying over $300/$400 for their consoles.
the people who see value in the PS3 will purchase one. period. it is Sony's job to promote that value to it's audience. if you doubt the loyalty of Playstation fans, look at how rabidly they purchased PS2s during it's launch, regardless of the fact that the PS2 launch titles were atrocious. the PS3 is actually shaping up to have a very good launch (with some suprisingly quality exclusives), and a promise of having even more quality exclusives next year (Heavenly Sword, Naughty Dog Game, MGS4, FFXIII, Virtua Fighter 5, and Tekken 6, to name a few).
you have to acknowledge that some of the most classic games in gaming history were created by the Japanese (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Castlevania, Street Fighter, Sonic the Hedgehog, Metal Gear, Contra, Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur, Tekken, Ninja Gaiden) and if the 360 doesn't make some waves over there soon, as many Japanese developers that have pledged support will pull it. same applies to the PS3. after 2007, developers all over will finally decide who they want to throw their development dollars behind. we've seen it with the NES/Master System, SNES/Genesis, PS1/N64/Saturn, and Dreamcast/PS2/GC/X Box.
the reason why the 360 is getting Japanese support for now is to try and kickstart some interest overseas. yes, Dead Rising has done well over here and in Europe, but not in Japan. the title could have easily pushed over 1 million units if the Japanese owned 360s. the PS3 will have that hurdle to jump also, and by the end of 2007, we'll have a clearer picture of where the PS3 could be going. as will developers, who know more about business than a bunch of speculators on the internet (me included).

Ubisoft confirms that it is PS3 exclusive again and again, and yet, so many Xbots are in denial that they rather believe rumors than official words from Ubisoft. Lol. Pathetic. Everyone know it won't be coming to the 360 as the 360 will never be able to handle such graphics, physics, and AI.

Figboy's blabber became a wall of text. Keep it concise and to the point. I'm not going to read that. You're still getting a PS3 because you're a huge Sony fanboy. But for millions of gamers like myself, buying a Wii and a 360 is now much more attractive.
You guys keep on talking about specs, hi def TV, and how many consoles Sony might sell. That $hit doesn't matter. All systems are capable of doing great graphics. Yep even Nintendo Wii. It reached a saturation point.
How many times I gotta say it to you Sony fanboys? PS3 SPECS DON'T MEAN $HIT. Yes we know it's powerful, but IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GAMES.
Multiplatform games will put PS3 in third place. I don't want Sony to fail. That's bad for the videogame industry as a whole. But losing these titles is a HUGE blow.
Graphical differences? who gives a $hit? It's still the same game with same story, same gameplay and on par graphics. Being on PS3 makes it look better? Man. PS3 is competing with the PC, remember? Home consoles will NEVER BEAT PC in graphic's power. NEVER.
Reply
Chances are that the 360 version of the game won't be as good looking as the PC and PS3 counterparts but nevertheless it's coming out baby!
I'll be getting my copy on PS3 - Why am I not getting it on 360? I don't know, I'd rather my PS3 had the opportunity... HDMI output .. .droooool
#65: The only thing that'll put Sony in Third place is if they stopped making the Playstation. Multiplatform games are a great way to reach all audiences It by no means ruins a consoles life.... Those of us who will be and are multiconsole owners have the choice of what port we play... As for me, Any multiplatform title will be purchased on PS3... Why? Better hardware.
PS3 still has the best Exclusive franchises, not to mention the biggest and more of them coming. Nintendo Wii, well.. that's a different story they are not in the same boat...
Xbox360? It's been out for a year and all we have seen are mediocre titles... nothing next-gen at all... This is where PS3 comes in...
You can argue that Games will never look as good as PC titles, but champ... in 3 years time, they'll give the PC a run for its money. The only way Consoles will be inferior to PC's is when a PC is equip't with 4 or more graphics cards... in which case a minority of gamers will have and therefore games are downsized.... Consoles games are not. PC's are a great platform but when it comes to gaming... Consoles are alot more intuitive and innovative - And these days that's what defines a game... not how pretty it looks.

As a pc gamer 720p is a such a big let down for me, I've been playing at much higher resolutions for over 5 years now. I'm really glad Sony had the balls to go with such a high res that is actually an increase over my pc.
Interlacing is such an old trick that should be dead and buried by now, we are talking pre 1950's tech here.
I'm actually glad that this is coming out for both consoles as it should serve as a decent benchmark for comparisons between the two.

I want to see some actual gameplay of this before I get hyped about it because at this point you cant really tell if this game is going to be good or bad so all the fan boy celebrating should cool down a bit as well as the "wow this game looks bad on 360" everyone is entitle to their opinion but still, dont get me wrong Im glad another punch has been swiftly delievered to the gut of the ps3, but the way the game looks isnt enough to get me excited about it a whole lot either, so lets wait and see some updates on the game it self (features, vids, story etc) then we will know if its worth coming to the 360

i'm buying a PS3 because, unlike my X Box, i know Sony isn't going to abandon the PS3 after 4 years to focus on the next big thing.
Sony has earned my trust in these past ten years because some of my favorite current gaming experiences have happened on Playstation consoles (prior to that it was on the NES/SNES/Genesis).
i bought the original X Box about 2 years ago, only to have Microsoft say, "Yeah, to those that own an X Box, if you want the sequels and followups to your favorite X Box games, you'll have to get an X Box 360!" if i had known that prior to getting my X Box, i would have saved that $200 and put it on a 360 instead. basically, i don't trust Microsoft. how do i know that in another 4 years they won't drop the 360 like a bad habit to promote their *next* console? leaving late 360 buyers in the dust? i don't. and that's why i'm not getting a 360 until there are more killer games for it that i *CAN'T* get on my PC.
when did i mention specs? i didn't. i mentioned sales because they directly, and i repeat *DIRECTLY* relate to console exclusives. look at the past two generations of gaming: *SALES DICTATE EXCLUSIVES*. period. the PS2, despite being inferior to it's competition got most of the exclusives because of it's high penetration. buy the end of it's first year, it was in 10 million homes, with even more room to grow, and that made developers comfortable with putting out exclusive titles on that console. whenever they went multi-platform, the PS2 would sell more units than the other versions, so they decided to cut their losses and go PS2 only (look at the Silent Hill series, for example: 1 was on PS1, 2 was multiplatform, 3 was PS2 only, and 4 was multiplatform. the titles that were multi-platform sold better on the PS2).
i haven't said anything about the PS3's power in my previous post, so i don't know why you brought it up. what i don't understand is why ignorant people like you want to hop on somebodies case for stating their opinion (and a lot more maturely than you), and automatically label anyone who likes Sony products as a "Sony fanboy." Sony has been the winning horse for two generations in a row. why wouldn't i back them still? looking at the launch titles (7 of them i want: 4 are exclusive), i already see justification in my purchase.
considering that i plan on owning an HD TV really soon, a $600 High Def movie player appeals to me. i like all of the functionality i get with the PS3 much like how i like the functionality in the PSP. it's not for everybody, and i understand that, and just keep on trucking with what i like. the PS3 is a choice. you, nor anybody else that doesn't want one doesn't have to purchase one. why does it matter that i like Sony and want a PS3? damn, you're more into my preferences than *I* am. relax.
i didn't read the rest of your post since you don't have the common decency to read mine, so i don't know what other "points" you were trying to make, and i don't care. i'm going to purchase my PS3 (along with 2 million other Sony fans) this November, and in the near future, i'm going to purchase a Wii and an X Box 360.
i've been playing video games since 1985. i'm a *GAMER*, and whether or not you get that through your thick skull matters nothing to me. i don't have an allegiences to *consoles*. just games. deal with your own issues and leave me out of it. enjoy what you enjoy, and i'll enjoy what i enjoy. no raining on peoples parades for me.
