Assassin's Creed, Co-op Multiplayer + Downloadable Content? |

Reportedly the latest issue of the Official U.S. Playstation Magazine has some interesting news on Ubisoft's much awaited killer app Assassin's Creed. (get it? Killer-app!)
Word is that the game is set to feature some sort of co-operative multiplayer mode. No solid information just yet on how the multiplayer mode will work out, but examples were given in which players aided one another in various tasks assigned to them. It's interesting to see how quickly developers seem to be jumping aboard the multiplayer bandwagon, even decidedly single player oriented games such as Assassin's Creed have a multiplayer component built in. As long as it's well implemented and fun, it's likely to add to the replay value so you won't hear much complaint from here.
Also in the nooz is word that the Ubisoft will provide downloadable content for the game that will enhance the playing experience, again, no word on what these goodies might be, but it isn't much of a stretch of the imagination to see them supplying new weapons, missions, items and possibly even new areas to explore. This news bodes well for the Playstation Network Platform as it seems to indicate that third party developers are comfortable enough with the service to provide the kinds of features we've seen grace Xbox Live over its lifetime.
Finally, OPSM also drops the bomb that Europe will see the game hit in the beginning of 2007, yes the beginning, as in, not the middle or end. Not too long to wait then, steamy!

since the Assassin's Guild in the game isn't just one person, it makes since that one or more Assassin would undertake a mission (kind of like that scene in Last Samurai, where the group of Ninja's attempt to assassinate Ken Watanabe's character). i think including (or, more like, *revealing*) co-op, as not much about the game was known, is a great addition, and could lend to some very tactical assassinations (you could be a distraction while your buddy delivers the killing blow, or vice versa. or a team of five could stage a full scale siege and assassination in a stronghold).
i can't wait for this game, and i'm probably about as excited for AC as i am for MGS4. the fact that it's coming in early 2007 is even sweeter. the PS3 is going to be a great system, just like it's competition are great systems. this generation of gaming offers something for everybody moreso than any generation before it. all 3 systems are unique, and specialize in different things. it's a great time to be gamer, really.

I can't wait to get my hands on Assassin's and if it delivers on half it's promises it'll be a really groundbreaking game.

AC could definitely change gaming (i'm looking at it's complex design as applied to other genres, and not just limited to it's own series). if it stays exclusive to PS3, it really will be just one of many killer apps (FFXIII and MGS4 are nobrainers, really). i think the system has the potential to have some sleeper hits, even early on in it's lifecycle (i'm looking at Warhawk and Resistence specifically). It also looks like Mercenaries 2 (covered in last months OPM) is a PS3 exclusive also. the developers didn't mention any other consoles, and even the Pandemic sight only has it listed for PS3.
there's really a lot to be excitied about for the console, and Assassin's Creed is just the tip of the iceberg to what the system can offer.

AC will be a hit...i hope it stays on PS3 where it belongs
On a side note, thinking of this game reminds me of the song:
Accolade II by Symphony X
Go ahead and give it a download.
PS: Symphony X owns, and dream theater, iron maiden, metallica...the list could keep going forever...

i dont think they should make co op the same as the regular story but with another person as for that is very boring... it should be a whole different experience...
like say for a co op misson one of u has to distract the gaurds while the other 1 sneaks in and kills the target
well... normally making a whole new campain for co op wouldnt fit on a dvd but since ps3 uses blu ray they can do that

It be cool if there was like 32 to 60 players online in big citys or really big maps like set in the woods or just open land and you have to take over diff spots like battlefield but in 3rd person ac and all kinds of rides and action fighting and not mmorpg thing, lol.
Picture jumping high on buildings, climbing trees, maybe hijack rides liek horses or those spears thing on wheels, lol and lots of diff weapons and stuff lol.
Lots of action all out war kinda like battlefront but ac setting.
