Ubisoft is laying down some big money on Assassin's Creed 2 (PS3, Xbox 360). During their year-end results call to analyst, company CEO Yves Guillemot revealed that they're increasing the production budget for it to make the game bigger and better, quality-wise.

According to Guillemot, the Assassin's Creed sequel will have a budget roughly 20 percent bigger than the original game. With a production budget well beyond US$ 20 million, Assassin's Creed (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) used to be the biggest-budgeted game that Ubisoft ever made.

Assassin's Creed 2 will is currently scheduled to come out around Q4 2009.

What about a PC release? The first one was on PC, too. Not that I care much, I get it on PS3 anyway, such kind of games are much more playable with a controller, but the AC1 PC version sold very good...

ya PC version controls were excellent! Well maybe they will release it like a year or 8 months after the release of the consoles.

» pfftt..

who cares whether or not the first game had a $20-million budget. it sucked big time. it's the proof that big budget does not mean quality game.

» what?

you just failed man in no way did assassins creed suck that game was a piece of art with great gameplay that was completely unique

by Xeinix - 2009-05-27 11:08
» It certainly...

did not suck, but it was also not a piece of art. It was a fun renting title that I sadly plopped 60 dollars on. I must admit that the engine is awesome and now that they've made the last PoP game with it, they should have mastered it, and will be able to create what Assassins Creed 1 strived to be.

» lmao

the graphics are amazing, but gameplay-wise? meh. definitely not a $60 game. this is the rundown of the whole game:

1) go to a city, find the Assassin's Bureau. talk to the guy there.

2) go out, investigate, pickpocket, interrogate, eavesdrop.

3) go back to the Assassin's Bureau and talk to the guy

4) go search you target, assassinate, escape.

5) go to another city, find another Assassin's Bureau. talk to the guy there.

6) go out, investigate, pickpocket, interrogate, eavesdrop.

7) and so on...

that is the whole game. you do those things every mission, in short, 9 times. is that a piece of art?

where's Jade?

» Completely agree with roddollente

It think the game is decent but it had the potential to be so much more. The way Ubisoft hyped it up was a bit extreme and did make me regret my purchase. A thing that bothered me was that there were 100s of flags to find but there was no reward for it, well Xbox version has n achievement for it but the PS3 users got left in the cold for no trophys.

From what I've heard so far it sounds like Ubisoft are listening to the fans to improve the game, I'm definitly not preordering it but I'll definitly rent it out to try first before making any decisions on buying it.

» Nice

This game has a couple page feature in the latest OXM with new bits of info and new screens. Looks amazing, Can't wait for this. I loved the first one despite the repetition, the awesome game world and controls made up for it IMO. Whenever I got bored with missions I'd just go take on 20 soldiers in a city and kick their asses, or see how fast I could move thru a city

» haha

also lol @ RexNox's comment. Haven't seen Jade in awhile

I hope that this time they more than 4 mission types. Gameplay and animation was top notch, I loved the game although it was repetitive.

» I agree

After the first three missons, you have basically seen everything. The game was way too repetitive.

The game had potential to be the biggest blcokbuster, but they screwed it with boring gameplay.
