If you're more into 2D fighting games as opposed to 3D ones, then you'll be glad to know that Guilty Gear series creator Arc System Works' BlazBlue arcade fighter has been confirmed for a console release in the latest issue of Famitsu.

Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of BlazBlue will get a new story mode that offers individual stories for each of the game's characters. The new story mode also effectively raises the gameplay length to over 30 hours. Japanese anime studio Gonzo has been tapped to create the console versions' animated sequences.

On the gameplay side, all characters will now have Astral Moves, something that used to be restricted to select bosses. Online play has also been confirmed along with DLC. The online play is supposed to be worldwide, so it seems like Arc definitely has plans to release BlazBlue outside Japan. In the meantime, check out this old trailer for the arcade version:

I like Guilty Gear but this one doesn't look appealing to me at all. I really don't like the character designs for a start.
