This is now being reported as a fake, guys. The product listing was updated with a picture (see below) that pretty much looks like the one that we saw previously from the Taiwanese manufacturing firm.
As it turns out, though, it is but a fan-made pic.
But hey, as far as we know, it's only the image that's been confirmed to be a fake. If you wanna be particular about it, the product listing is still up on the Amazon.de site, and so far, no one's called it out as a mere wannabe. You may choose to believe that angle if you want to cling on to that tiny spark of hope.
Over at the other side of the globe, a plain product listing at the German Amazon website stirred up quite a ruckus. There was no shocking image showcasing the product, no scandalous detail describing what the product does or what it's for. Nonetheless, it sparked the interest of many simply because the product name held the words "PlayStation 3" and "Slim" in one title.
Listed in full as the "PlayStation 3 Konsole Slim" submitted by a user, it does beg the question of whether or not Sony will soon be unveiling the latest of their "worst keep secrets." Amazon user may be from Sony for all we know.
This is not the first time we've heard of word buzzing incessantly regarding the existence of such a PS3 model, from supposed prototypes images from Taiwan to supposed actual prototype in Manila's shopping malls, to rumored game bundles. Word has spread like wildfire, indeed, crossing the world over. And still not a pip or a nod from the folks at Sony.
As mentioned above, there are no further details on the product listing page. For all we know, it could be just some fake posting given the lack of "proof." What it does have, however, would be the listing as "platform independent", and it's own Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN).
We'll keep you updated on this, but I think there'll be more on this in the coming weeks. And since there's no official word (still) from Sony, we're tagging this as rumor. But you know what they say, where there's smoke, there's gotta be barbecue.

Sad you still think its fake, when theres so much pictures and videos up about the PS3 SLIM.

Ever notice the video of the PS3 SLIM was never confirmed fake by Sony, Sony never commented on the PS3 SLIM video.
Oh and by the way your wrong about too much stuff about the PS3 SLIM, you should research more.

Boyo, how funny it will be to show you all how correct, Ive been all this time about the Slim.
Unlike half of you, I know Sonys made up of idiots who dont know stuff about there own devices.

John Koller even confirmed the PS3 SLIM would come out a few months after he admitted to it being real.

Oh and alot of places are almost out of PS3 stock, by the time Gamescom comes, stock will be dried up almost.

Plus you really should check the PS3 stock out all over the contry or are you even able to do that, you wouldnt be able to unless you had store workers.
I know and every single store in USA, UK is almost out of PS3 fats.
Its already been confirmed by retailers that the PS3 SLIM is pretty much real, usually as it gets closer to Gamescom, you will see more leaks of PS3 SLIM everywhere, this is Sonys new way of letting info out.
Its pretty much fact that those pictures of the PS3 slim are really PS3 SLIM, have fun, trying to prove me wrong, when your always wrong about the Slim PS3, what makes you think its fake.
Too many people confirmed it as real and its coming at Gamescom, if they waited till TGS, it would be too late, TGS is worthless compared to Gamescom.
