Let's see... Uncharted 2, MAG, Gran Turismo 5, God of War 3. With that caliber of exclusives at Sony's E3 presscon, a lot of people are gonna want to have a PS3 after the expo. That's exactly what happened with Amazon when the online retailer reported a nice bump up in sales in the weekend after E3.

Just last Sunday, the 160GB SKU scored a 95% increase at Amazon, ranking it at #183 at the retailer's gaming slate.

Not surprising at all. If you're gonna get to play those whoppers, you gotta have the hardware. Buyers didn't seem to want to wait for the elusive, nearly-mythical PS3 price cut - which may make sense, since that damn price cut may not happen before those exclusives start hitting stores. Would be great if it does, but whether it happens or not, that's still money well-spent.

imagine when they do get a price cut. i think sony thoroughly thinks of everything. after e3 they get those sale boosts, and once the sales begin to slow down they will announce a price cut, probably sometime near the holiday season.

» yeah

I wouldn't doubt your on the right track. Either that or the rumor that Sony is gonna let retailers run low on PS3s and then stock em up with PS3 slims which have a cheaper price point at the end of summer... either would work.

» wow

I'm surprised by this. Most people wait for the games to actually come out, right?

And I agree with the price cut comment above, but I hope Sony plans to do there price cut sooner than later.

» why buy from amazon

The price is locked, you get it faster just going to the store. Well the games are a tad cheaper, and some state don't have sell taxes. Maybe it is infamous.

» Well..

they've reported sales boosts, but other retailers are most likely experiencing the same thing.

Maybe they've come to realise the PS3 already has a hell of a lot of quality titles and they can play those now while waiting for the new stuff. A friend of mine got one a couple months ago primarily to play Uncharted - Drakes Fortune to get an idea of how Uncharted 2 is gonna be and he now already owns more games for the console than I do but then he has a much higher income and less other costly hobbies. Either way the PS3 is gaining more well deserved respect and about time too.
