2006 is not the Year of Atari. In fact, its financial standing turned out to be one of its worst on record. And one of its victims is Alone in the Dark for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

The company announced Alone in the Dark will be on hold until the 2008 fiscal year (April 2007 to March 2008) hoping it would be a big hit next year. But aside from the longer wait, fans of Alone in the Dark,  those who don't own an Xbox 360 or have plans of buying a PS3 can look forward to playing the game on other unnamed formats.

On the brighter side, Atari will roll out Test Drive Unlimited for the Xbox 360 right on sked next month while the PSP version launches in November. Atari is crossing its fingers TDU will bring in much needed cash.

"Atari is crossing its fingers TDU will bring in much needed cash."

They can cross their balls for all I care...

I won't b paying over the odds for a game which is released elsewhere for half the price...

I wish them nothing but the worst.

Well you can understand where they are comming from by pricing TDU higher in EU than in NA....they are probably selling it for a very small profit, but hope lots of people in NA will buy it because it's cheap....then if only 5 people in EU buy it they make a good profit there too.

#2 is right though, they should be busting out Tempest Arcade....I would buy that without a thought, and the profit margin on XBLA has to be super high since there is no manufacturing or anything...
