Namco Bandai's Afro Samurai - Image 1

Namco Bandai's Afro Samurai turned heads during the recent DICE 2008 for making a surprise appearance. If you were wondering what the noted Hollywood fixture Samuel L. Jackson was doing there, well, he's the game's main man.

But the surprises don't end there. Afro Samurai has been confirmed to arrive this fall for both Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360. If you are a fan of this animated series based from Takashi Okazaki's 1999 manga, then you'll certainly in for a treat.

The cartoon series only spanned five episodes so expect Afro Samurai to expand the plot. This is no ordinary cartoon however. Watch its premiere trailer here and you'll likely associate Namco Bandai's latest offering with Kill Bill than with the Care Bears.

Similar with the film Kill Bill, Afro Samurai will also use hip-hop musical scoring from The RZA of Wu-Tang Clan fame. The music is more than embellishment however. It will affect the tone of the gameplay, specifically your enemy's artificial intelligence. QJ.NET will keep you updated once more details for Afro Samurai emerges.

I knew it!

Snakes on a Plane ruined Samuel Jackson's carreer! Now he's doing videogames like Mark Hammel!

Not really

Sam is the executive producer of this cartoon. Doing the voice himself brings attention to this IP that would not be there otherwise. And it saves him money, he doesn't have to pay someone else. The more things he sells with Afro Samurai on it the more money in his pocket, I just hope the game is as good as the cartoon. And bloody, just as bloody.
