Activision to donate a million dollars for the benefit of war veterans |

Now that Modern Warfare 2 (PC, PS3 and Xbox 360) is
slowly making its way into store shelves and home consoles, Activision
seems to be busying itself with a different call of duty. The publisher
is donating US$ 1 million to put up a foundation to help find jobs to
those who answered the call of duty - the veterans.The United States unemployment rate hit double digits last week, and it's even worse for the veterans since finding a job has always been harder for them. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate for those who served since 2001 hit 11.6% just last October. It's a sad state of affairs, especially for the people who went to the front lines for their country.
Activision has now decided to set up the Call of Duty Endowment (CODE) which will provide assistance to the vets with their careers. "The joblessness rate that [veterans] should have should be far less than the national average, not more," said Bobby Kotick, Activision's chief exec. "How do you expect people to actually join the military if when they leave the military they can't integrate back into the free market they're supposed to be protecting?"
CODE's first move will be to donate US$ 125,00 to the Paralyzed Veterans of America to put up a vocational rehab center. Kotick has enlisted the aid of Army Gen. James Marks as well as other notable retired military leaders to help match employers with qualified veterans.

that's awesome.
Anyone who really thinks that this is a company that will DONATE money without an alterior motive is so niave.
Not to long ago they were complaining about not getting ENOUGH money from the PS3 and demanded a price drop... Our PC gamer cousins are still trying to get dedicated servers which I assume has been left out to save money.
Why on earth do they wait for the launch of MW2 to do it?
It's awesome nonetheless, but I mean it seems like a major publicity stunt. I mean, the timing of the announcement coinciding with the release.. I'm sure they care, but if they REALLY cared, they wouldn't wait until a game they launched.
If I had a billion dollars, I would donate a million dollars to my alma mater or a hospital. Not because I'm a doctor, but because I truly appreciate what they do for people like me and my parents when we need them..
I hope this game rocks btw, this will be the first Call of Duty game I'm buying
I'd probably buy the game if they donated that extra $10 for the PC version to the various "causes."
Ehhh, maybe not, since I've only ever bought the first CoD. I liked MW, but not enough to buy it. Multiplayer at LAN's was fun though. Plus with the no dedicated servers thing....
Wow the compalain about money and said bcz that they made a call of duty MW2 PC but Console version and now they donate , hahaha .
so Activision wana help the veterans i wonder how many they are and if 1 million can help them lol , But CNN will speak about it on TV tonight OHH they will montion CALL OF DUTY , ops just before MW2 release , Good one Activision .
But if only they donated it to gamers of call of duty reducing 1 million$ from COD price without ADs .

Activision are charging slightly more for their Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 game. This will probably make them slightly less or slightly more money than just selling the game at an ordinary new release price.
Kind of makes me change my view of Activision instea of just being the new EA taking all they money they can.
But then again Call of Duty is already planned for 2010 so maybe not.
