Activision threatening to sue EA over Brutal Legend

After Brutal Legend was left out in the cold by Activision, the publisher is now claiming that they still have rights to the game and is threatening to sue the game's new publisher, Electronic Arts. In case you're not familiar with the game's history, Activision was the initial publisher for the game, but dropped it when they decided to merge with Blizzard.

"No, that doesn't make me the wife."

So why are they trying to get the game back now? They're not. Word is, they still have no intention of publishing the game, thinking it won't bring in the same amount of cash that games like Call of Duty does.

So what do they want? Well what does anybody want these days. They're probably looking for the green stuff. Dough. Moolah. Cold hard cash. Same thing they got from Atari when they picked up Dark Athena and Ghostbusters, two other games Activision dropped.

Double Fine, the studio making Brutal Legend (PS3, 360), feels that it's their right to find a new publisher. And Electronic Arts? They responded:

We doubt that Activision would try to sue. That would be like a husband abandoning his family and then suing after his wife meets a better looking guy.

*Hiss*. We'll let you know more of the drama as it develops.

EA's response was awesome, Activision lost major points with me when they dropped this game, and now for them to be fighting over it for just for the cash is even worst.

Those Activision b*stards are seriously suing over a game they decided they didn't want to publish. Throw away your greed and start making some decent games.

One thing I still can't believe: Activision dropping games with great potential (Ghostbusters and Brütal Legend) for kiddie franchises like Spyro and Crash. They're officially the new EA.

EA's doing pretty good last year. Dead Space got me real hooked and Mirror's Edge used up a good amount of my time. Damn you Activision if it wasn't for CoD4 I would really hate you now.

Activison is the new EA. I kind of agree. EA just made two of my favorite games of all time, Dead Space and Mirrors Edge. Activision is just pumping out rehash after rehash, and being little b*tches about stuff like this

activision must need the money for passing up on blockbusters and replacing them with crap. not every game is going to be cod4 worthy. but you can still get a decent buck for publishing it.
