Activision looking into Vietnam War music; CoD 7 set in Vietnam?

Is Call of Duty 7 to be set in Vietnam and Cuba? That is the information that TVGB's insider source claims, after said source picked it up from... get this... the music that Activision is looking to license for the game. What, did he hear a Đàn nguyệt (moon lute) being played in the meeting room?

No, not necessarily. Rather, they made some heavy mention on top tunes from the Vietnam War era, as well as Cuba, Africa, and Soviet Union. That's quite a track list, I must say. Also, it appears that Treyarch will be developing once again, since Word at War senior producer Noah Heller is involved once more.

Well he did say that they will be "showing the final battles of the Pacific and the European Theater and that lets us put a close to the war," last year in an interview with UK's Official Xbox Magazine.

If that really is the case, then prepare yourself for some hippie, groovy 60's music. Here, Help yourselves with The Beatles for a quick trip down memory lane. This was at number 6 on September 20, 1965 in the charts.

I'm waiting for the horde of Modern Warfare fanboys to come and bash the hell out of the game before they even see a single pixel from it.

Since WW2 was raped by countless video game portrayals in the 2000s alone, a good Vietnam game wouldn't hurt. Looking forward to how ruthless the game will be. They already had random gratuitous gibs in WaW, so they'll def. need more for a Vietnam setting.

Those traps were brutal.

Its going to be by tryarch, its going to be sub par to moden warfare

nothing to do with fanboys and everything to do with learning from the past.

anyway who the hell cares about the Vietnam war? it had no real meaning.

It's gonna be subpar to MW2, a game which will be nothing more than a $59.99 expansion pack to 4? Ok.

Perfect logic. Learning from the past must mean I'll like the game.

As for the last sentence...Go say that to a veteran's face. It'd be some sort of miracle if you actually came back from the talk.

1, so you're one of the FEW that liked waw, good for you. the tryarch games are all sub par to the relevent infinity ward games.

2, If I said that to a veteran's face and he attacked me, just means hes emotionally affected (and fair enough, but its not my fault the soldiers went to war) BUT doesnt make what I said incorrect.

I don't know why, but why does everybody want a modern warfare game? There's enough on the market and I'm sure they're modern enough, stop complaining! I loved CoD2 on 360, probably still one of the best CoD titles to date.

I hope you play as the Vietnamnese. As they were seen as 'the good guys' defending themselves from France, Japan and American invasion.

Seriously? The Vietnam CONFLICT (NOT A WAR! It wasn't and never will be a war! It is considered a Conflict.) Why don't they just go really retro and go back to the Civil War, or the American War for Independence.

I guess I can look at it this way,.....Zombie Viets anyone?

Modern Warfare > Anything that is NOT Modern Warfare.

Not all the Vietanmese in country saw the Viet Cong as "good guys". It's silly to conclude that everyone was for communism merely because of anti-American sentiment.

as long as treyarch doesnt have the bugs that they had on waw i might pick it up. i mean seriously what is the point of resetting the sp campaign stats after a double xp weekend i guess they assume everyone who is playing online finished the campaign. I was three missions away from finishing on veteran when treyarch *****ed up my game save if that will happen i will pass even though i wouldnt mind playing a game and killing the viet cong since im vietnamese and against communism.

Call of duty, if nobody else has noticed, is a series of World war/ pre-modern war games.

That's what they were liked for.

Modern warfare should have been a new series, seperate from the call of duty line. And Seeing as modern warfare 2 no longer has call of duty in the title, why would they be working on a call of duty 7, when it would be call of duty 6.

CoD:5 improved on CoD:4, and made it better (in my opinion) by putting it back in the world war era.

remember the official title of the game is Call of Duty: World at War, so its not COD 5 but WAW, and i hate people who call it 5, most people i know just call it world at war. Game still sucked though, except for the nazi zombie part.

Ok. I guess "few" is equal to a few hundred thousand. Nice logic.

It wasn't our war to begin with, but it's a great war to be portrayed in CoD's engine. They have a lot of potential.

I can also call 4 an expansion pack to 3. See what I did there? CoD3 was FAR from subpar.

It was the fifth game in the MAIN series, therefore, it was CoD5. MW2 is the sixth game in the main series, therefore it's CoD6.

# Hmm..MahSixFo 2009-05-02 09:43
Then why didn't they call it "Call of Duty 5: World at War"?

It's like saying GTA: Vice City is GTA IV.....

there is a biforcation in the franchise of call of duty.

modern warfare (seperate from cod but taking off of the cod4 mw line) and probably every other cod game made (that is not some sort of off shoot) so there could potentially even be a world at war 2.

i think they need to do some more dessert battles with the cod4 engine like the gulf war. with like nerve gas manufacturing facilities. though sky scrappers and urban warfare is good enough.

but pertaining to the Vietnam era. at least there will be some m15 m16 usage there. and in my opinion the vegetation is where things go interesting in 4 with concealing opposing forces. so this could be a very exciting installment to the series.

this of course if not botched.

The working title was CoD6, and it was originally called CoD:MW2, but the fact that they dropped the CoD part may mean that they now consider Modern Warfare it's own spinoff series.

What logic? all I ever hear and read is people saying 4 is better than waw.. Im not using logic to come to that conclusion unless you mean

I ve never heard or read (barring you) anyone say waw is better or as good as than 4 and/or tryarch dosnt spoil every cod game. soooo logiclly 4 must be alot more popular than waw

which I suppose is true.

you can call 4 an expation to 3 but as the first two are infinty ward (both better than 3) by your logic (see what I did there :P) then.. well Im sure you see

Almost any modern war game beats WWII depictions 6-0, that's for sure..

Although you do have a point, CoD2 was really, really good.

Its good to see some progress(?) away from the milked dry WWII "Genre" that plagued war shooters for years. But in my opinion, once you go modern its hard to go back. I'm sure the story will be good and all that but I find modern war weapons and tactics to be a little more enlightening and entertaining and somewhat more relevant in the time we're in right now. I find it a little disrespectful that people hear this game could be taking place in Vietnam and the first thing they think is "can't wait to see how it is on a CoD engine" lol.

Anyway, WaW was a terrible game. On paper it could have been great, it took everything from CoD4 and improved it, engine wise, added things people wanted and took nothing away. They just screwed it up when they went back to WWII and then added Tanks (enough said). Since the games are only getting better engine wise. Modern Warfare 2 will be the next real step forward in the series and this game will probably MWF2 but in Vietnam with...tanks...
