A Sneak Peek at the Supposed Final PS3 Prototype

PS3 frontTwo months ago, we played the "what-lies-beneath-the-PS3-trunk?" guessing game. Some speculated that there would be memory stick and SD card slots located under the trunk flap. Well, leaked photos showcased on the Neogaf forums seem to prove that hopeful guess to be right (provided that of course, those pictures are legit, final versions of the PS3 consoles).

PS3 backA closer look of the said pictures tell us that underneath the "flippable" trunk cover are SD/miniSD card, memory stick and Compact Flash slots. And those spell good news, right? After all, PS3 users would get a lot of file-saving options for their PS3 games. A quick look at the back reveals an HDMI and a LAN port for high-def and multiplayer options.

Will we have all (or more) options when the final PS3 units get shipped to our doorsteps? Hopefully, we'll find out soon enough. For your daily dose of PS3 news and updates, just stay tuned here at QJ.

is it hollow or are those some beastly heatsinks in there?

Wow, the PS3 kind of reminds me of my PSP. But mu PSP isn't that scratched or dusty. The back looks like it's see through. What's the point of haveing the gloves if the PS3 looks in bad shape. Anyways, I can't wait to get my hands on the PS3.

I imagine (and hope) they use better plastic in the retail versions. That model seems extremely cheap-looking. The whole case reminds me of the original Xbox, far less elegant than X360 and Wii.

The colour of the PS3 is "Clear Black" so it is very likely that it is see-through.

Unless they keep downgrading it again.

» you do realize

that this is at a gamming conference? there are hundreds of people walking around kicking up dust and dirt. Anything shinny and black with show every speck of dust on it, ecspecially with camera and flash photography. As for the scratches, if you look at how they form, its most likely from packing penuts, rub one on a bran new black stove and take a picture of it and youll get the same thing in the flash, either that or someone did a *****y job of trying to buff it clean. If you look close too, youll see that it is see through and you can see it all, manufacturing this thing will be a ***** if you have to worry bout scratches on both the inside and out while putting it togehter.

by ESAM - 2006-08-28 19:34
» YAHOOO it is an internal power

Did you guys notice it has an internal power supply. WoW not bad at all.... way better than the crappy ugly xbox 360 power supply

by HEY - 2006-08-28 21:00

The size of the PS3 is huge. This video shows the PS3 about as big as a mans torso. I can't wait for this monster of a machine.

» #10 Maciekish Where Have You Been?

The PS3 has been announced to have only one HDMI slot for some time now. They talked about it alot awhile back. You must not really be interested in the PS3 huh? If you were you should have heard this.

» i hope it's big

why did everything start getting smaller? my hifi has large units, my vcr is large, and then all of a sudden my freeview box is small... it looks stupid. why would i need to save space under my telly? i'd rather the ps3 had internal power (it does) and was quietly cooled (again apparently it is). am i right in saying the cell inside runs at 2.8ghz when the max cell speed is clocked at 3.2ghz. and uses 7 out of 8 spu's (subsidiary processing units). - for the guy who asked what speed it is -

i've never had a wireless control pad, and i'm pretty excited!

the tgs secret must be software, as they have now showed us the hardware parts and we all know that it's not any different to spec.

» what aboyt the 20GB ps3

Did you know that one the offical spec list for the 20 Gb ps3 says there is no sd/cf/ms card slots so whats under the cover of the 20 gb ps3 ????? and how do u think i know that it is the 60 gb ps3not the 20 gb one in the pictures its because on the picture of the ps3 rear it has the hdmi port only the 60 gb ps3 has that not the 20 gb one. link to offical spec list

» there will be nothing under the flap

simple. there may not even be a flap

The only reason the PS3 will do better then xbox 360 in japan is the fact that is has the playstation and sony name backing it. If what most people say about the xbox being to big for the japanese market is true then that will be the only reason why ps3 will outsell xbox360.
