A quick look at the MotorStorm: Pacific Rift - Speed and Adrenaline expansions |
Ó
For each expansion, there will be three additional tracks, all playable in all online modes, offline in Time Attack, Free Play, and Split Screen.
Speed Tracks
Quicksands
Darkfire Swamp
Engorged
Adrenaline Tracks
Reef Runner
Brimstone
Hollowed Earth
Each expansion pack also re-introduces familiar tracks with "Track Variants" There are eight of these in all, selected from the most popular online games and given the "Volcanic" subtitle. These tracks won't just come with new routes and obstacles, they'll be Volcanically-themed for your gaming pleasure. Instead of falling into the usual ravine, you will be able to fall into a pool of molten lava.
Other environmental elements will also be added: showering you with balls of lava falling from the sky, volcanoes erupting, ashes falling, lava flowing into the tracks.
The Edge Volcanic, for example, won't be seeing too much lava since it's an Air Track, but it will feature falling rocks all over the track, and yes they can hit you. Rift and Scorched Volcanic, on the other hand, will really put you in the heat with rising lava levels and flames bursting from certain locations.
Sounds like fun. Nothing like shoving the next guy into the fiery depths of the lava, or ramming them into a falling ball of fire. More updates are coming next week so keep checking back.

Comments [refresh]
I've gotta get this game sometime. I still play the first one occasionally.
I cannot pinpoint what exactly it is ...what indiscernible nuance causes it ... but I've had Pacific Rift since its release (and I bought the Japanese import of Motorstorm at its release, as well as the US version when it came out). For whatever reason, I still find the first one more fun. Maybe it's the desert setting: maybe it's just more appropriate to the feel. I don't know, I think it's maybe something more claustrophobic about the tracks in Pacific Rift. Yes, still graphically amazing, and beyond in some respects. I'm just not drawn to Pacific Rift like I am to the original. Anyone else feel the same?
Not really. I played the first one constantly, but when the second one came I pretty easily transitioned to it. It was a bit different as in there are more obstacles to hit, but I got used to and and I like it pretty much the same or maybe even a little better than the first.
I like how Pacific Rift has more of everything. Also the elements come into play a lot more and the ability to boost sideways is a plus. Now only if a newer one would incorporate weapons, that would be awesome.
