A look at Mad Catz's Modern Warfare 2 peripherals |
Ó
These include PS3 and Xbox 360 controllers, a keyboard and mouse combo, headsets, and a "throat communicator". Xbox 360 owners can also switch out their consoles' faceplates for a Modern Warfare 2-themed one.
Aside from looking pretty badass, what I like about the controllers are the extra buttons on the underside that can be mapped to the face buttons so you don't hav to take your thumbs off the analog sticks. Yeah, kinda like that Xbox 360 controller mod Ben Heck made. One thing, though: the Xbox 360 controller is wired, while the one for PS3 isn't.
Here's an overview of all the peripherals as well as their prices:

The peripherals look cool, but the Xbox 360 controller looks fugly. It looks like someone vomited grey pixels on a generic xbox 360 controller. The PS3 controller looks fine though, I like the bottom combat buttons. I wonder about the analog stick quality. Almost every 3rd party controller's analog sticks failed on me
Wow. All of the peripherals that are controllers, including the mouse, look horrible. Don't even look comfortable.
The analog sticks in these controllers are the same exact ones that the first party manufacturers use. This was already confirmed in a video review on another site of all these exact same items about a week ago. Probably the same video someone at QJ finally got around to watching. I'd consider picking up the PS3 controller if MC had given it rumble. They probably left it out so they could claim a 60 hour battery. Big whoop. A 30 hour controller with rumble = something worth buying.
I agree. What confuses me most is that they made the 360 controller wired to reduce latency yet then on the PS3 controller they decided not to do that but instead of using bluetooth they just use the 2.4ghz technology that microsoft uses for their controllers. But then they make the PS3 headset use bluetooth but the 360 headset is wired just like the controller.
Seems kind of inconsistent to me.
The illuminated analog sticks on the controllers look annoying, I already get annoyed playing in the dark with the Xbox button lighting up in my face.
won't be a buy for me for any of them.
Thought they were going to look better than that given the incredible hype of this game + over pricing of game and SE. Will be picking up the game second hand when it's a more a suitable price
I wonder why they have two completely different headsets for the two platforms. The PS3 offering is just Yet Another Bluetooth headset. I really see no reason for people to go out and buy one (unless they are naive and don't realize any common BT headset will work with the PS3). Now the offering for the XB360 is truly unique. I think they should have offered two versions of that one. The shown one, wired for XBL use, and one BT for PS3 use. The uniqueness of the form factor might actually generate a lot of sales. Possibly multiple sales if it works really well as people buy a second to use with their cell phones (to avoid the hassle of constantly re-pairing it depending on what device they want to use it with).
I dunno why you got dumbed down since what you said is true, but yeah. I wonder who remembers my anti-CoD rants, and I still stand by them and all, but I'm only getting MW2 since *everyone* else in my clan is getting it. Only one guy listened to me and agreed on it's existence and the other just wants to trophy whore it; the rest just want some cheap FPS to play.
Sign me up for the normal edition, I woulda got the CoD1 voucher but I played CoD1 on PC, and it's not that great. CoD2 was much better.
I prob wasn't gonna buy the 360 pad anyway since no 3rd party controller is ever as good as 1st party, and these are the same price to boot, but it's damn ugly.
I woulda got the PS3 one in an instant if they made the sticks concave, but they didn't, so no deal
