A look at Gran Turismo 5's "head-tracking" feature |
Ó
This feature requires the PlayStation Eye. How else will it track your head? One look at these demo vids will help you understand better.
It might seem a little simple, but imagine having such technology for GT5, and with the way the game looks, having the head-tracking feature will definitely add truckloads to the driving simulation experience. With this, you can turn to the side and yell at the driver ramming you, not that that'll help you though.
As GT Planet has learned, “…the movement of Cockpit Camera interface (confirmed in full 3-D. The camera can be fully manipulated and you can opt to have your head tracked by the PSEye). Gran Turismo 5 is supposed to have the same capabilities as shown in the demo, if not better.

1. How much?
2. Can I get this at best-buy or another electronic store?
3. Does it require a 3D ready TV at all?
and then an unrelated question to the hardware in general, would this work for World of warcraft? if so I might cave in and actually try to play the game.
1) The cost of a PSeye
2) You can get it wherever PSeye is sold
3) No, it requires a PSeye
1 Its around 150$ US.
2 I have only seen them online.
3 Does not Require a 3D anything.
Also it does not fully support WoW. Blizz doesnt allow players to change pitch leaning and roll. its mostly used for Simulation style games.
DUDE it cost 9.99 and you can get them online right now there are only a few games that can use this accessorie
sorry it cost $129.99
So if I turn my head to look to the side I would have to look from the corner of my eye in order to see the screen. This would be a cool feature though if I had some of those virtual tv glasses or more monitors.
The idea is based on where your head is in relation to the tv/ir box the diff angles you see, Micro movements chance camera angles. Best ways to enplane is go look out a window from the bottom you can see the sky from the top you can see the ground. You are still facing the window but what you see is different. Same idea with this.
I've seen this technology before, but... 8D
It seemed slightly jumpy in the video. Hopefully that is just the video or the framerate of the video.
nice for simulation but when you turn your head you still have to watch your monitor(s). so you turn your head to the left but you still have to look straight ahead.
Yeah, these video have nothing to do with the playstation eye.
Listen to uplink, you can get this now for your PC (the 2nd youtube video).
The first video was done using PS3's, but still was using an IR tracking camera, which is different from PSEye.
If they do this using the eye, it will be through more traditional methods (facial recognition, using your eyes as tracking points).
The results will be similar, just not as accurate (unless they make a visor clip with those little bulbs on them like the motion controller has)
I understand this more than you so quit talking to me like i'm stupid.
Just what I meant and Uplink had to talk to me like i'm retarded or something.
don't have to turn your head very much... so i don't see the problem
