Talk about "adding some volume" to the stringy cast of Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox 360). The latest issue of V-Jump reveals a new character to join Lightning, Snow, and Vanille's party: Sazh Kalzroy. And for once, we can finally recognize a Square Enix character as being most definitely male! (Oh my, a non-androgynous SE character - has hell frozen over?)First off, he's got an afro - something that's totally breaking barriers on Tetsuya Nomura's part in usually going for the "typically androgynous and usually spikey-haired" side of character design.
Sazh is described as someone who likes the color green (see the coat?) and is fond of chocobos (hence the chick). As if taking a page from FF12's Balthier, he's not only giving off this "ladies' man" vibe, but is also wielding a pistol - no, two pistols, actually.

This is the first time I've seen anyone but Lightning in a battle scene, I may have missed one though. I hope they don't make him into a bad steriotype.
The 2nd black guy in a FF game and he had to be gay. He's most likely the comedian in the game like Zell was in FFVIII.

this guy just doesn't fit with the rest, at least for now. other characters have more serious look to them, while this dude looks like some random idiot (no offense) which might appear for comic relief here and there.
in short - he just doesn't blend in with the rest, standing out like that. maybe that's because his design is so radically different, or something. it must be that weird afro :]
