ffSince the debut of the next generation of Final Fantasy at E3 2006,  Japan-based game developer Square Enix has been giving hints has to whats in store for the next decade.

They have dubbed this vision for FFXIII "Fabula Nova Crystallis" (Latin for "Tale of the New Crystal"), and it is the heart of their ten year plan. Three FNC games are currently in development, and there may be more, depending on how well these are received.

Meanwhile, FFXI has made its successful transition to the XBox 360 platform, but don't look for an expansion or followup any time soon; Square Enix has no plans for a sequel before next April.

Yah... umm I heard that the 360 version of FFXI was horribly recived, it sold poorly and reviews even scored it lower then PS2/PC versions mainly because it's an almost direct port of a 2 year old game.

You heard incorrectly. Many PS2 users switched to the 360 version, as well as all new players.

Try very few PS2 users.

No point in buying a game that doesnt have any graphical enhancements when you can buy the PC version and on a average computer, will look the same.

Its definitly a deal for the Xbox360 as you get the game and all the expansions, but Console Owners generaly dont play MMORPGs on consoles.

Dude stop trying to pull facts out of your ass. You dont know what youre talking about. MANY PS2 players went to 360 version, because the 360 version simply looks the best of the three hands down. And many MANY peopel from beta continued in the game.

You dont even go to the FFXI boards on other sites. So wth do yoyu know? Even on gamefaq.com The PS2 board is almost dead, because people made the switch. Half the ppl in my LS have also made the switch and we use voice chat all the time.

The PC version does NOT look the SAME as the 360 version, so you can stop the lies right there. And on PC if youre new to the game, you have to buy the game, and THEN 3 seperate expansion packs. No thanks. And if you are new to play on PS2 youd have to FIND a HDD , have the OLD PS2, and then also buy 3 seperate expansion packs. Get over yourself, not everyone is a Graphic whore. Console players generally never played MMORPGs because they HAD NO CHOICE BEFORE. So save you tired "facts" for someone who is stupid.

LOL look the same as the pc version. Umm no... for one the PC and PS2 versions share the same exact color pallete, but the PC version is just at a higher resolution. The xbox 360 has a different color pallete, and is more rich in color because of it. Plus the HD helps it look crisp and clear. When 360 version came out, a whole host of new players popped up. Its far from a "failure"

The PC version looks better. I played the Xbox360 version and its no where near the quality of my 1600x1200 with 2000x2000 background rendering. Voice Chat can easily be supplied with free software like teamspeak. Also the color pallete has nothing to do with how rich in color it looks. Its how you configure your graphics card to handle the game. For example, if you even goto the FFXI boards at popular sites then you would know its simple registry changes and video configurations get you much better colors.

FFXI comes with 2 expansions and you only pay the additional for the third expansion.

What now?

Funny how the tone of this board gets to be anti xbox when it isn't even the xbox's fault that such a crappy ffxi port is on that system. I for one used to play ffxi and seen a rather large amount of the population playing MMORPGS on consoles especially the japanese, because if anyone who played ffxi back in the day knows how impossible it became to beat a japanese player at claiming a HNM without using any hacks.

If ffxi was ported to the ps3 I find that some of these comments wouldn't have been said. Can't say if the increase in population on ffxi was due to the xbox360 or the new kick ass expansion but something did change to revitalize that game a bit.
