IGN recalls for us what zombie games are really all about. It's not about the graphics, nor is it about the story. It's about the gaming experience! And that's what a good zombie game should do: grab gamers by the jugular (oh, yeah!) and infect them with pure, uninhibited fear.
Here's what IGN's Top 10 list looks like:
10. Hunter: The Reckoning

8. Alone in the Dark
7. House of the Dead 4

Well, OK. One or two of them might be more of a zombie-themed cult classic than a seriously scare-my-pants-off game, but still, a zombie game must have an infectious gaming experience - one that will get you glued to the controller whether by fear or carnal appetites, or simply have an addictive gameplay.
Now some of you might have your own idea of a zombie-fest. And I myself definitely have my personal Top Ten (Silent Hill being somewhere near the top). We all have our standards when assessing different kinds of games - whether it's a zombie game or a puzzle game. So we ask you: any other games you might consider for the list?

is the best Zombie game ever. It is so George Romero it hurts!! The fun factor however goes to Dead Rising!!
Cold Fear was decent.. zombie types that have to be shot in the head..

Number 2 was good or very good but ya cant deny that Resident Evil was the best out of the bunch
all of the RE (except for RE4...it had no zombies in it remember) should be on the list, as well as all the silent hill games....the snes game zombies ate my neighbores was sick fun....alone in the dark sucked major balls....i dont kno what they were thinking putting a game like dead rising as #1...i mean...its been out for about a month and its the best zombie game out there?!?!?...please....

Silent Hill isn't on there because there are no zombies in Silent Hill... the enemies are ghosts and demons.
And why would the games release date have anything to do with how good it is? They could have made the list a day after DR came out and it'd still be #1, because they think it deserves it.
Anyway, DR is definitely top 3, idk about #1 tho. I liked RE 2 more.

What a garbage list. Resident Evil isn't ont there...Yeah, that makes sense. Zombies Ate My Neighbors is hands down the greatest zombie game ever. Dead Rising blows nuts btw. Entertaining on it's own, but compared to REAL games it is just awful. What a garbage list. ***** IGN.

dead rising the best zombie game? wtf? The world of gaming is really going down hill, *****in resident evil 2 I spent hours upon hours with that game, it never gets old, it's challenging with an incredible amount of replay value and a great sotry line, awesome enemies too like mr. x and william birkin, dead rising was OK, but it shouldn't even be on this list.
doom has beasties and demons and *****. ive necer seen a zombie in doom. thats total bull*****. re4 had zombies. they were people that had a a parasite that controls them. wierd walk, moans and groans, slow at sometimes, and strangles you most imes. i say thats a zomie. they were smarter than the average zombie but none the less a zombie.
I understand some games were good, but I mean, Zombies Ate My Neighbors?? this game was cool a long time ago yeah, maybe, but nothing really special, I think resident evil 2 was GREAT, but the 4rth was a LOT better, I mean, this time the zombies were less hard to kill, but more smart, they trow their axe at you and the most important addition, they can RUN! lol. anyway, I'm not saying Dead Rising is bad or anything, but from what I heard ( I didn't played it yet ) yhe game is too much repetitive, you just kill zombies aimlessly and that after some time ( like an hour ) you get very bored, it's like a GTA without missions... ( I love resident evil )

Dead Rising is the best zombie game out there. But, IGN has failed to mention some of the greats such as Zombie Panic (HL1 Mod).
Doom is also a zombie game, but its also a demon game, but you fight zombies in the third level.
Resident Evil 4 is not a zombie game. Since when do zombies weild farm weapons and chainsaws? Also, they spoke spanish and could communicate. Can zombies do this? No. I moan and groan sometimes but it doesnt mean im a zombie.
Resident Evil 2 is a great game by my standards, and is indeed in my top 3 best zombie games.

evan now i played about 4 zombie games and 2 kicked ass well for me anyway thats deadrising and this may seem old but stubbs the zombie kick somuch ass that i was on it 6 mouth's
Are you fricken serious? That game was funny, it was in no way scary, I played it back when I was 10 on the SNES and laughed my butt off. I think one game that was totally forgotten about is Parasite Eve... The first time I played that game on the PS1 it scared the crap out of me... still gives me some chills.
