Screenshot of Woopsi Nintendo DS homebrew application - Image 1Homebrew developer Ant512 recently rolled out the latest build to the GUI library tool designed for the Nintendo DS, Woopsi. Version 0.34 includes a lot of new changes, such as the addition of several code fixes and optimizations to help make the program run a lot smoother.

For those of you not familiar with Woopsi, it's essentially a homebrew used to create user interfaces for other homebrew software. Designed for use on the DS platform, it was modeled heavily from the AmigaOS windowing system.

Here's a statement released by developer regarding the new changes added in Woopsi 0.34:

This release mainly consists of changes I made before other commitments got in the way of my coding projects. Changes include protected copy constructors for all gadgets, several major fixes to the SuperBitmap drawing routines, SDL fixes and a few new examples including WPaint, a FileRequester demo and a DimmedScreen demo.

I've also managed to add in the two new events discussed in the last post. Gadgets now fire EVENT_MOVE_FORWARD and EVENT_MOVE_BACKWARD events when their raiseToTop() and lowerToBottom() methods are called. The AmigaWindow fires the EVENT_MOVE_FORWARD event. The screen doesn't fire that event yet, but I'll get around to it eventually.

Woopsi 0.34 comes with several detailed documentation files explaining its different features and how to use the program on your handheld. Please make sure to browse through them before copying any files to your DS.
