headerWe just read some new Wii and DS info that might give you all the more reason to pre-order that console. EA has just confirmed that the much-talked about game, Spore, will be released in Spring 2007. Players can also link up play via the DS so you can deform species anywhere. Data from the DS may be transferred to the Wii. Does this mean we get to play Spore on a bigger screen? We'll see.

Regarding controllers the hardware; the Sensor bar is 50% smaller than what was previously thought. It will be "little bigger than a couple of pencils together." Wii-mote's got its own 6kb memory that will help in storing data like sensitivity, y and x axis settings, scores, and saves. It'll run on two AA batteries for 60 hours of gaming; cut it down by half if using the sensor bar. People can use SD cards for game saves and virtual console games. Unfortunately, law prohibits you from playing games on someone else's Wii.

So with all these new info, it certainly helps in imagining that you're playing with a Wii right now.

Idiot

Just buy freakin rechargable AA batteries with a charger. Law prohibits me from playing my games on another Wii? Since when? I payed for it and its mine, so I can't see why I can't. Even if I can't, its not the law that will stop me, like how the hell will they know if I played games on someone elses console?

the law

u cant because the virtual console will probz have mac filtering or summet like it and playing ure game on their console would infringe copyright.

No different than what other systems will do.

If Microsoft/sony/any other company has it the way they want it they would not allow any games to ever be traded/resold/borrowed/rented. They aren't making money with these. This is just the beginning. As soon as high speed internet becomes more afforadble for the masses and is more commonplace for all, we will be strictly downloading games to play them. An evolution not for ease or well being of the customer or his pocket book, but so that the major game companies can keep more of the dollars you spend per game :) If it does come to this, I hope they keep the purchase price down to reflect the lack of physical media (ie booklets, game disk, etc.).

Stupid!

I can't believe you can't play your VC games on someone else's Wii! Why don't they just have an Internet like login thing and when you logged into your account on your friend's Wii it would realize what games you've bought and haven't bought. Then, it would let you download them accordingly.

uh

well, i think the VC games will be account based. I dont see nintendo doing it per console. What if a person spends 1000$ on VC games but all of a sudden his wii gets catapulted into the sun? You mean to tell me that person is going to need to buy all those games again? I dont see this happening. Its probably going to be account based e.g xbox live.

hhmmmmmmm

wonder how big the homebrew community will be for the wii? hope it doesnt become a "war" like in the PSP homebrew (as in nintendo approving homebrew and no firmware updates or stuff like that)
