Why manly men oughta own pink portables

Are you not inpired by my physique! The introduction of the Pink PSP and Pink DS units was a mixed bag. On one side, we've got those who thought they were adorable, and those on the other who thought they were just unmanly. But seriously, doesn't it say that "Real men ain't afraid to wear pink"?

With that thought in mind, we challenge the self-assured testosterone junkies to sit down and read: Why it's macho to carry a pink portable console.

Abundance
Classic colors like the the PSP's black or the DS' white casing are scarce. And if you do ever find a store that sells them, chances are they've jacked up the prices to make the most of the market demand. Now, try asking for a pink unit, and see just how much surplus some of these stores have. There's plenty to go around, and it handles exactly like the others.

Anti-theft device
Picture this: You're a big, hairy brute who's standing at the subway, pink console in hand. Out of the corner of your eye, you spot a dude who looks like a mugger. He notices your girlishly pink PSP, then looks at your bulk...and you pop a perky smile back when he looks you in the face. He backs off. See? Deception is often the best defence in nature, and giving muggers the wrong idea is the best way to scare them off - lest they snatch the unit from you. The Pink DS gets plus points for looking like a powder compact.

Pink DSPink DS

Attention-grabber:

Pimpin' out units is a way of grabbing people's attention. The problem is that not everybody has the time or skill to make mods. But go ahead - walk around with your chiseled 'bod, a pink portable strapped to your hand for all the world to see. People will definitely stop and take notice of this unique contradiction of images. We said you'd grab attention, we just didn't say how.

Easy-to-find
As one blogger put it, the prob with eye-appeal skins is their detectability. We've got enough problems finding misplaced units, now why would we want to torture ourselves? Black is the favored paint job of groups like Delta Force, and KonamiStyle's camou skin is just screaming to be lost in your lawn grass. Save yourself the migraine my main man, and get yourself a bright, cheery easy-to-spot-in-the-dark pink unit. We could recommend light-up mods, but that's a drain on your batteries.

It's hackable
Some guys might argue that the Pink PSPs running on disagreeable TA-086 motherboard. This could be problematic for the homebrew scene, especially given that each motherboard update makes it even more challenging to hack. The good news is, we might be closer than you think. Somebody's already hacked the TA-082 motherboard, and given that bit of good news, it's only a matter of time before the Pink PSP joins the ranks as a fully workable homebrew platform.

On a last note, don't take this as some sort of sexist rant - we're just reminding you guys that manliness is more than looks. It's a sense of identity that carries over no matter what we wear or use, and should promote a strong sense of security on who we are. Do not take this piece too seriously...you've been warned.

You really got to understand that pink is just a pale shade of red and does not in fact infer anything about the sexuality of a person who likes it.

Its only because of the pathetically bigoted fear of most straight men that this is even brought up. Oh no someone might think your gay!! err why would that be a problem?

"If you show me your pink, I'll show you mine." Seriously though, I guess you never had a gay man /woman touch you in an area you didn't want to be touched before, did you? And if you told them not to do it again, they just went ahead and did it anyway?

What would you do? Would you give that person a black eye for touching your vitals (privates)? Or would you just disregard it, think nothing of it because the person is of a different sexual orientation than you, and tell him / her that you aren't attracted to him / her, and you feel uncomfortable with what they are doing?

Well not in my situation, honey.. reasonable as I may be, I would ask the f**ker first what the hell he thought he was doing, and if he ever thought about doing it again, he would wind up on the ground nursing a black eye.

I don't care if the person is straight or gay, it's just wrong, and because of what the person's sexual orientation may be, it doesn't make it right for that person to be touching you in an uncomfortable way.

So yeah, true story, that did happen to me once when I was a kid, and a classmate of mine did something uncomfortable to me, and I gave him a warning not to do it again, but did he f**ckin' listen? Hell NO !!

He did it again, and last thing he saw was my fist hitting him square in the face as he made his way to the ground.

I have no problems with pink, but the consoles look horrid (sorry but they just do!).

I'm not afriad to look feminine, infact I do dress in fishnets and other things regular (for you bright sparks, yes I am a goth... for you who are going to insult me, get over yourself and get a life before you insult someone higher in socity than yourself.)

On the whole avoiding muggings, not going to happen, you will draw a hell of a lot more attension towards yourself if your a big 5 ft 10 guy, with a bright pink PSP unit in yours hands, (not to mension if your are stocky, or, like me, constantly dressed in a LOT of black).

If they ever make a dark purple console, I will be a proud owner before you can blink. But pink... its just a nasty colour, but some people like it and I respect that, just not my thing personally...

Another stupid, pointless article courtesy of QJ.net. Great way to start the year!

I personally don't have anything against any color. If the color works then it works. A pink PSP doesn't necessarily translate to it looking feminine and I wouldn't mind owning a pink PSP if it looked good, but I don't want a pink PSP any more than I don't want a blue PSP or a red PSP or a yellow PSP. Those color would (and do) look ugly on the PSP. The PSP is a gadget, a gizmo, an electronic device that looks aesthetically pleasing in black, white or silver. That's why most other electronics are mainly those colors, including but not limited to televisions, computers, gaming consoles and, yeah, even cars. Henry Ford had it right. Keep in line with Hudson's Choice and you'll please everyone. Most of you (Hell, all of you) are probably too stupid to know what the hell Hudson's Choice is or how it relates to Henry Ford. Dumbasses.

» Dear, Dear Anne

So because of one moment in your life when you were a kid (physically I would imagine, cause mentally you're still there) and one action performed by another KID, you have some irrational hatred, angry, violent, prejudice against all gay people, even if they've never done anything remotely like that? But then you wouldn't know that they've never done anything like that because you wouldn't give them half a chance as a person, which they are, just like you, regardless of their sexual preference.

You know most homophobes are really closet homos themselves who are just to afraid to admit it to themselves...

» My opinion...

Pink is just a color. It's someone's preference on whether or not they like it. And, since we're not fascist, nobody else can choose what color you want yourself.

However, saying "Only REAL men wear pink" or whatever, means you're trying to constrain people to a new identity, sort of like fascism eh?

If you say only real men wear pink and stuff, it's putting everyone else outside of your catagory of a "real man". Your view of a man is different than anothers for sure. But, it is kind of insulting to hear that you aren't a "real man" to everyone who wears pink. Heh, if you really care about what the pink-lovers think of you, then you probably would get mad if someone said this to you.

The thing they're trying to say, is that they supposedly don't care what you think of them, because they dress differently than others. They kind of contradict themselves if they go saying "Only real men wear pink", though, because by saying this, they are trying to change your opinion to that one, and therefore care about what you think of them.

If you don't care about what the pink-wearers think of you wearing your colors, then you're as much a man as they are. Because they don't care about what you think of their wear (except the ones who flash the "real men wear pink" things), and you don't care about what they think of you.

Kind of confusing, ja?

» Pink

Pink is a Japanese favorite... It's the color of Luck and Good Fortune... It's a cultural thing... Even the Samurai liked pink (go ahead call one of them gay for liking pink)... Seeing as how Sony is a Japanese company and they really don't give a flying f**k about the rest of the world (you can tell that simply by the fact that they base their profit margins and the success of their consoles on sales numbers in Japan and don't take into account other countries), it only makes sense that they would release a pink PSP, especially following the success of the pink DS. Oh, and all the homophobia apparent in this site is just a small showing of why the pink PSP hasn't made it to U.S. shores (had to import one for my wife), Sony may not care about the world outside of Japan but they're not f**king stupid, they know the pink PSP won't sell in the U.S.

Gamer kids need to grow up and learn about other cultures... pink does not equal gay (but being as homophobic as most of you are makes people question)...

So, what, no choice at all keeps more people happy and is the best choice of all? Thank you but no thank you it's my money and I would rather have the choices... besides wouldn't old Henry be rolling over in his grave if he knew what has become of his company?

» stupid assumptions

Oh wow, jrfhoutx, I guess based on your ridiculously stupid assumption that, " You know most homophobes are really closet homos themselves who are just to afraid to admit it to themselves..." kinda of draws up an open discussion for where you got your deductive reasoning from doesn't it?

Let's pose this question to you then, since you sure know how to pick out a gay man from a homophobic crowd according to your unsurpassed wisdom taken from probably watching the movie " American Beauty ", and drawing upon the conclusion that if not all society accepts gay men for whom they are, or the kinds of lives they live, then not only must they be homophobic, but secretly gay as well.

Yeah, pretty good reasoning and deduction to come to that conclusion right jrfhoutx?

My question to you is this then, do you yourself have any friends you know of who are homophobic, and if so.. what do you think they might say or do if you told them that you thought they were gay just for being homophobic. I bet they would ask what the f**k you were talking about, before letting you crawl away from them while beating your ass down into the pavement for even thinking such a thing. On the other hand, maybe your friends are just a bunch of happy go lucky Queer loving a$$ pirates who share the same kind of love for Queers you seem to have yourself.

In that case, I've got some news for you, in case you haven't already heard, there are just as many of your so-called(stereo-typed homophobes) existant in this world as there are gays. And, just because a straight man does not want to entirely accept a gay man for his sexual orientation apart from being a person himself, does not mean that every heterosexual male is secretly gay. It is a false sense of thinking, and only shows a one sided view that is in support of the gay community, but as a society still ponders why some people can not accept gays as norm too. I'll tell you why, because just as much choice as gays have to live their lives the way they want too, some heterosexual males have the choice to choose not to accept simply because they are NOT FORCED TO DO SO !!

That is one thing that you failed to see, and although I can't change your in ground mind set and stupid deductive reasoning and assumption making, I have one thing to say, let's shake hands on it, (though you would probably prefer to touch a butt or a groin yourself); and be on our merry f**kin' way, shall we ?

Oh, and P.S. We are all a little homophobic in here, and secretly gay, and we are coming to gang bang you. Let's don on our pirate patches and hats, and have ourselves a merry butt f**king pir8 of a time !!

» hahaha!

Wow, it's amazing how predictable and easy to set off some people are... :) I knew I could get you riled up but damn, you ran with it after just one remark! :)

O.K. I gues we should roll with it since I started this... first off, dude calm the f**k down, your anger has gotten your brain scrambled and you didn't make sense at a point in there.

O.K. as for where my deductive reasoning comes from, it was the findings of an actual study that had been done that I read in a college sociology class years ago (no I can't provide you a reference, that was almost ten years ago...), and no, it wasn't "American Beauty", in fact I don't really like that movie...

Do I have any homophobic friends? Yes, actually I do, and I have said that to them, they have never once raised a hand to hurt me (real friends don't do that to one another, real friends have more respect for each other and their opinions than that) for saying that to them. They do however get in a little stand-off that becomes rather childish (in the same way that your retort is a little childish; it goes something like this: "shut up, I'm not gay" 'yeah you are you're a self loathing gay guy' "go to hell, I'm not gay" 'really? when was the last time you dated a woman?' "screw you, I'm not gay!". See it gets a little childish, notice how there's no supporting argument to the contrary, just denial? Denial is the first step to recovery ;), but my friends know that I'm just messing with their minds...)

Now I also have friends who are gay as well (and my homophobic friends actually do hang out with them sometimes, the discussions can get quite funny). They don't hit on me, they don't make passes at me, and have never inappropriately touched me, they have more respect for me than that. I have however been hit on by gay guys in bars, I don't take offense, in fact I find it flattering (though I don't swing that way, in my opinion it's nice to know that people think I'm attractive, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation).

As for your assertion that you don't have to accept a gay man for his sexual orientation, I never said you had to, learn to read. What I said was that "you wouldn't know that they've never done anything like that because you wouldn't give them half a chance as a person, which they are, just like you, regardless of their sexual preference." Now, let me explain what this means since you obviously can't infer meaning from the written word, this means that because of your dislike of gays that you don't look at them as people in the same manner that you see yourself, and that you see them differently and treat them differently because of their sexual orientation. Nowhere in that comment did I say you had to accept and be alright with gay mens' sexual orientation. You do have every right to live your life the way you want to, and they have every right to live their lives the way that they want to (just like you), and you can both do this without having to accept the others choices in life. No one is forcing anyone to do anything.

("Oh, and P.S. We are all a little homophobic in here, and secretly gay" see I knew it... ;) )

Now as for being "pwnt" I have no idea why you consider that illogical poorly thought out rant "pwning" someone, but I will say this anyone who actually uses the word "pwnt" is either a twelve year old, a gamer with no life outside of their computer, or both. (yes I know this is a generalization, and I know that it'll make you mad, if you haven't figured out that I find it amusing to piss you people off that's not my fault)

"You know most homophobes are really closet homos themselves who are just to afraid to admit it to themselves..."

how the f*ck does that make any sense? My fathers a serious homophobe, he gets sick when he sees gay people holding hands or kissing on the news, is that supposed to make him gay?

and i mean, seriously, about the whole sexuality thing, sexuality is based a little bit on dna, but it's mostly on the environment and values people put in your head as you grow up. So, say you grew up on another planet, where everybody was gay, and you were told it was right and it was the standard. You would be gay, because you would have NO knowledge of what "straight" is.

And if you think about that, you'll realize that sexuality is as fragile as glass, the more knowledge, the thicker the glass, the less knowledge, the thinner.

That means that it's possible to change your sexuality, actually, fairly easy once you understand and you have the right mindset.

What does THAT mean? It means that it doesn't make a damn difference whether your gay or straight, because it's all in your head.

All your values, and culture, and lifestyle are just in your head. It's just merories of your knowledge that tell you "this is right" and "That's not"

All your hard set values and everything like that is changable. All it takes is an understanding of what you're "really" dealing with.

Seriously: WALK INTO YOUR BACKYARD, LOOK UP AT THE

SKY AND JUST THINK, "WHERE AM I? REALLY? WHAT IS THIS,

THIS PLACE I HAVE SET MY VALUES IN? I MAY BE LIVING MY

LIFE THE WRONG WAY..."
