We're expecting arguments: Gametrailers tackles top ten consoles |
Ó
Sigh... flamebait for sure.
Anyway, we definitely aren't spoiling it for you, but you can expect to see some of your favorite previous generation consoles from Sony and Nintendo on the list. Sadly, the newest consoles are absent from this, and Microsoft's two consoles aren't anywhere in the top ten.
Still, if you can handle that little omission from the list, it actually seems pretty fair. Expect the number one to be a cause of debate though, but we definitely agree with it, at least. Enjoy!

TEH PEE-ESS-3 DIDN'T WINZ?!?!?!? BUT IZ LIEK TEH BEST CONSOLE EV4R!!!!1111eleventy-one111186556poop4534
but i do agree with the no 1
never thought of the PS1 like that b4
wheres xbox? it should be at least 5 if not higher.
they should do a top 15 and rethink there list
For anyone that doesn't feel like sitting through a really crappy video
10) Sega Dreamcast
9) Atari 2600
7) Nintendo 64
6) Sega Genesis
5) Gameboy Advance
4) PS2
3) NES
2) SNES
1) PS1
what is it with todays writing looking like a Dyslexic's being writing it. Sorry if you have the problem but pretty much every kid i've seen on forums writes like this
TEH PEE-ESS-3 DIDN'T WINZ?!?!?!? BUT IZ LIEK TEH BEST CONSOLE
try
"The" "PS3" didn't "win"?!?!?!? but "it's" "like" "the" best console ever
i've placed little quote marks around the alterations for you
Thoguth the video was rather good and interesting to be honest, and i agree with the choices when taking all the factors into account
WTFFFFFFFFFFFFF FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF FF
If i was to make a list like that.
The SNES would´ve got the 1st. place, and the PS2 wouldn´t be on the list.
also the N64 is way better than the NES!
i think this video and ratings is more geared toward what helped catapult the video game industry the most .... not which system has crap games with flashy grafx
Half of that list was great, and half of it was poor decisions.
The NES should have been number 2, since everyone and their grandmothers knew what Nintendo was. Plus it had a lot of great games (Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Kung Fu, Punch Out, Duck Hunt, etc etc).
Two versions of Gameboy made the list? Thats just dumb. Especially concidering the only difference really was one was in black and white and the other was in color.
The PS1 wasnt that great and definately doesnt deserve the top spot, and only a few people I knew personally had it. Most people had a Dreamcast or better yet an N64.
Xbox should have been in the top 5 on that list simply for having Live. It basically redefined the way multiplayer games were played. Not only that, but its graphics and sound were superior to their competition, the PS2.
Lastly I will say that PS2 should have had the top spot. It has sold more consoles and has a larger library than any other console in history. If youre gonna make a list about greatest consoles then those two factors alone prove that its the greatest. Thats hard for me to admit also, because Im personally an Xbox *fanboy*, but I give credit where its due.
As far as current consoles go (Xbox, Wii, PS3). I dont think the ps3 would have made the list, be honest, its not doing that great. The 360 would have MAYBE made number 10, but wouldnt have gone much higher. As for the Wii, well, the Gamecube didnt make the list so i dont see why the Wii would.
Maybe in 20 years time they will make a list again and we might see the PS3, Xbox360, or Wii on there, but only time will tell.
No other system had so many marquee franchises that started pretty much everything that we have today than the NES. From Zelda, to Mario, to Mega Man, the list goes on and on. No other system had so many great franchises on one system than the Nintendo. Yes there are newer systems and yes they all have pretty graphics etc. blah blah blah. Yes I know Nintendo wasn't the first system but it certainly is the best. NES truly set the stage for all we have today.
I spent 5 minutes laughing @ this
"The PS1 wasnt that great and definately doesnt deserve the top spot, and only a few people I knew personally had it. Most people had a Dreamcast or better yet an N64."
Did you know they sold enough PS1's to stack to the moon?
They don't call us the Nintendo generation for nothing. IMHO, the NES is still influencing the market today with many of the big franchises that started there.
I think the reason they gave the top spot to the PS1, though, is because newer consoles are starting to feature games with a more cinematic presentation. Developers are making games almost like interactive movies these days. The PS1 was the first system to really do it well. The Dreamcast could have easily been as influential, if not more so, if Sega hadn't screwed up their execution so badly. Their system simply wasn't around long enough to make the same kind of impact that the PS1 did.
shame on you dude... did you think before posting?
what an a*s*s
Well, if you're basing it on what started the game industry... shouldn't Pong win?...
I do however vaguely understand the list... surprised no Xbox, but then in some ways not surprised really, it's not that amazing
I don't need anyone to tell me what consoles they think are the best.
I'm not even going to bother saying how stupid this list is.
i completly 100% agree with funkmonk. and to superdumb, ok so ps1 sold consolse, but ps2 sold more, so shouldnt it be at number 1 instead? any way you slice it ps1 shouldnt be number 1 on the list. the nes could have been number 1 and i wouldnt have been as shocked. and funkmonk is right about todays consoles. ps3 probably wont be on the list because look how many its sold so far. you people are just fanboys. at least funkmonk is man enough to admit his Xbox fanboyishness and still say a sony product should be number 1. so whos the reall a/s/s here? hmm?
All the high school drop outs not understanding the PS1 getting first place should try and remember that it was one of the two systems in history that did most for this industry.
By targeting a older demographic than the teenagers Nintendo and SEGA were fighting for it helped the industry to grow up and be taken seriously as a new mainstream entertainment medium, not just something kids dug in their bedrooms.
Personally I would have put the NES either at first or second place. It did pretty much raise the industry again from its ashes after Atari caused the industry to implode.
And Xbox belongs on this list as much as the Jaguar or 3DO do, so shut your stupid mouths you damn idiots.
wheres the jaguar???
" Microsoft's two consoles aren't anywhere in the top ten." uhh could that be because they're failures? (OMGS teh xbots are gonnsa kills me now!)
Honestly, the original xbox didn't do all that well and 9 million consoles sold now is nothing, while it looks like its on top the 360 is really just enjoying first on the market status, soon the competition will over run them and xbots everywhere will be saying "WTF, we was leading!".
17'5 (4113d 1337sp33k, 4nd app4ren7ly, yuo c4n'7 sp33k 17!!!!1111!!!11
evilscarycomput ergeek here... anyhow, the number 1 spot should've gone to the PC! I don't care, no matter what you say, it's a console. It has the capacity to play games, thus it should've been on the list. Why? Because a. it's got some of the best games/graphics/sounds/controls/etc. Online play is the best on PCs. Furthermore, as best as I recall, the PC can emulate all but one system: the PS2 (yes, I know there are emus out for it, but they ALL suck). Thus, the PC is number 1. PWNT. (This should generate a lot of comments...)
Impressive 1337sp34k, you spelled speak wrong.
Actually i'll be writing a comment on that one Mr. Wtf.
First of all the Personal Computer is not a console. Hence i cannot be Nr. 1 on this list.
Second i do agree with the graphics and sound, but a computer i something you constantly need to upgrade to play the games on. It equals a lot of money spending.
A console definetly fits more in to the mass market, because you don't upgrade once you have the system, making buying games easy. Furthermore you don't have to buy lots of peripherals and other stuff making it cheaper, and eventully more enjoyable.
Console also have the ability to appeal to your whole family not just you = giving you more sócial experinces and skills.
There wasn't anything special with the PS1. It sold a huge amount, but it was inferior hardware wise to both the Sega Saturn and N64. The N64's games looked so much better but Nintendo ruined it my making the games on expensive cartridges.
The XBOX or 360 should have been there somewhere because of online gaming and the superior graphics capabilities.
The NES would be #1 to any sensible person.
The SNES was crap, and the games had to include hardware that the system should have had built in, which is why they were so expensive.
I think the PSP should be on there instead of the gameboy advance, since GBA is basically a portable SNES.
Oh well, I could care less what these idiots think. I guess most of you could say the same thing about me.
The Playstation is number one on that list because of the way Sony marketed it; dragging it out of the kid's bedroom and into popular culture. If Sony hadn't brought gaming into the mainstream and been so successful with the Playstation, it's unlikely that microsoft would have entered into the market.
Also, why do people say they "could care less"? If you're trying to suggest that the subject at hand is at the bottom of your list of things to bother about, shouldn't you be using the phrase "couldn't care less" thus implying that the subject is so far down you couldn't get any lower.
Two versions of Gameboy made the list? Thats just dumb. Especially concidering the only difference really was one was in black and white and the other was in color.
two nintendo;s made it? thats dumb, ones just better hardware
two sonys made it? thats dumb ones just better hardware
two segas made it? thats dumb ones just better hardware...
Peeps who argue the #1 spot Ps1 revolutionized the video game industry it's incomparable to all systems before it only the PS2 was able to top it. if it weren't for the PS1 every body would still be producing kiddie games much like Nintendo's trend. What it brought was a great age in gaming it changed gaming forever.
"All Right"! No Xbox
How can you forget that PS1 was out when Super Nintento was still putting around. How can you diss a system that kept up with all the 64-bit systems years after its release. PS1 was out for 6-7 years after its release did you forget. N-64 and Dreamcast... HA they only ran for 3-4 years next to PS1 there is no contest that the PS1 stands on top for staying up to par with the other more advanced systems.
If a 32-bit system can keep up with 64-bit systems for 4 years Its my #1 anyday.
Instead, I'm just gonna tell everyone how flaming stupid I am.
"Eeeeh, look at me, I'm MCS, no one cares what I think but I'm going to tell you anyways... This list is stoopid, so is the SNES, but the 360 is the cuulest!"
thank you, i was only reading the comments to see if anyone'd do that....
NES saved the entire industry from the videogame crash of the early 80's. It should be #1.
The Atari 2600 is crap and belongs nowhere. It had some of the worst arcade ports ever. It also had 4k of ram on the processor, but atari used cheap sockets for it so it only used 2k of ram. Atari would still be around in the console business if they weren't so stupid in the 2600 days.
That is the list is ridiculous, Gameboy Advance, Snes, PS2, and would of swapped them for the PSP, Wii, 360, they may be next-gen but they are all ground breaking. An also Nintendo 64 was never kiddy, games such as Conkers BFD (Censored for the Xbox Re-release), Perfect Dark, and GoldenEye.
What are you after anyway?
Do you just follow me around everywhere? If your PS3 is so great why aren't you playing it?
I didn't even say anything negative about sony products and said the PSP should be there instead of the gameboy advance. I like most of sony's consoles (PS1 definately should not be #1) but I don't care for the PS3.
I think everyone agrees, this forum would be better off without you, since you never have anything remotely intelligent to add.
Definately tells you what kind of fantard made this list, huh?
its one of the last games shown in the vid for genesis.
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g203/elbarto1/game.jpg
psp deserves top 5 on my list....i can do just about everythin i want with it
I think the n64 deserved beter than that, if you look at the top 10 best games of all time, Mario 64 and OOT are in the top five....where's PS1's best titles in that list?
definately think n64 deserves 5,4,3,2,1
And that's not blind fanboyism
Lol: PSP number 1...ahaha you fanboys are incredibly blind
Thats Comics Zone- One of the better games for the genesis
I think the Jaguar is 2nd on the failure list to the PS3.
My god that system sucked, the SNES had better games than that POS.
The list is pretty fair, really, but it's silly that the PSX is above the SNES or NES, depending on criteria they used. In terms of relevance NES should be #1. In terms of "amazing games + use of hardware that still impress today," SNES should be #1.
I like how saying "Atari had tons of trash, so it scores wose" doesn't apply to the PSX. Even at the time most of the games were junk, but the system mostly just changed gaming demographics through better 3-D, marketing, sports, and a few great games.
*sigh* good times.
SNES should def. be first! and wtf dreamcast - it dont fookin work!
well I can say most older gamers would disagree with this list
but hey going to see more list done by younger people that have way different views
poeple that only played atari 2600 to see what there father and grandfather where talking about etc
so the lists are going to be off to a 30-40 year old player comparied to a 20-30 as 10-20 will differ
all these list never seem to be anywhere near right in my eyes also I dont consider hand helds consoles really
but is me
i am only commenting because i feel sorry for you.
and the pc isnt a console so it doesnt belong on this list.. and anyway pc's are too complicated , they take all the fun out of gaming and will give you arthurituss when you are older . why dont you buy a console instead , the xbox 360 has a great controller and just so you dont feel out of place it even sounds like a pc.
DS would be like #1. LOL Then the PSP.
This list is pretty much spot on. The argument of PS1 vs NES for top spot is going to be an on going one but you have to take into account what both these systems brought to the table. The NES saved the gaming industry and propelled it into stardom. The PS1 on the other hand took up after Nintendo and then some by bringing video gaming to a newer audience, effectively making the video gaming market even larger. Take into account all the systems they sold, all the great games they had and BAM! it's suddenly not that hard to see why they took the first spot. I'm personally pretty split over the decision but i know it was a good one either way it would have gone. As far Xbox making the list, no chance. Sorry to say but the system did not do anything that hadn't already been done. Multiplayer in away it had never been played before? PC had been doing this for ages before. Graphics? They were nice i will give it that, but they alone a good game do not make, just look at all the graphically better systems the PS1 took out. In the future you can expect to see the 360 on a NEXT-GEN list. As for the PS3, well that pretty self explanatory. It has not proved anything in the market yet. Like the 360, maybe in the future. Finally, PSP, wow i couldn't believe this was even thrown into the equation no more than i can believe someone actually mentioned the Jaguar. I used to own a PSP which i gladly traded in for my PS3, and i can honestly say this system doesn't deserve a spot in the top 50. It's a powerhouse in the handheld war with incredible potential but it has no real good games for it. I can count in one hand all the decent games for it and like the X-box it has not done anything considered groundbreaking, unless you take it's sales into consideration which at the rate they were falling I'm sure could break the ground.
dont let these kids get to you MCS, they just prove how immature the sony community really is. I respect most of what you have to say, at least you say something with meaning behind it instead of just repeatedly flaming other posters on this site. Dont get discouraged man, just ignore the brats and move on.
it must suck to spend so much money on a console thats in 3rd place and looking to stay there huh? even the wii is beating it, how saddddda
PC people are like people who still watch VHS and wonder why everyone else has switched to DVDs. Upgrading every 3 months to play the latest games is dumb, just like thinking a PC is a game console.
Yea, im 21 and my first console was an Atari (my older brothers of course). I dont think ps1 should have been no1, perhaps ps2 (sales) or nes (for its amazingly fun game library). Personally I liked the N64 more than PS, sure it had less games, but the games it DID have were far better than what ps was offering. The people who are saying the PS brought gaming into the mature audience have no idea what they are talking about. It wasnt PS at all, it was PCs. Doom, Hexic, Duke Nukem, Mortal Kombat, and the likes were what brought mature games to the consoles. And what nintendo censored in their games Sega did not. So it was more PC and Sega (especially Night Trap for the Sega CD which was an AO rated game) than anything the PS did. Putting PS as number one is just outrageous, this list must have been compiled by 10th graders or something.
Initially I Didn't agree with how many nintendo products where on the list. But then I thought about it and realized, everyone who doesn't know alot about video games call every system Nintendo.
After thinking about that, I really only disagree with SNES. I love Donkey Kong Country, but other than that there wasn't anything on that system I thought was better on SNES than Sega Genesis.
Just my thoughts on the subject.
Before I write this I'm just going to say that I haven't played any older than GB and NEs, but I'm not going to say very much about the things before that either, just that in my opinion games didn't get ery exiting before NES and SNES, NES wasn't all that great, but started off mario and some stuff like that, but when SNES came you got games that was really fun to play! Super Mario 3 is one of the greatest games ever at least on my top ten i think (yeah, i know, NES game, bt I always played it on SNES...) I pretty much agree with PS1 as the first place, I love my PSP, but from what reasons they had, PS1 in first place is great. But complaining about PSPs game-list is just bull*****, GTA, Daxter, MGS are just a few of the really great games out there. PS1 is the console I really started to play for real on, yeah... we had a NES or SNES (don't really know which one:P) But when we got a PS1 with Crash Bandicoot it really begun getting real! PS1 had as I mentioned Crash, even though it didn't make the platform change, but CTR was really fun! (One of the few games I got 100% on, can't rememberany others right now). Driver is also one of the games that I loved the most! But that game has also died... The games that really was great was FFVII and MGS! I got FFVII in 2000 or something, but in just 2 months ore so I still maeaged to play over 50 hours on my PSP! How many games can give you so much fun 10 freaking years after release!?! i have also completed it once not that long ago on the PS1 and before that I played a lot, but lost my save files from diifferent reasons all the time, always starting over from scratch:P MGS I didn't play before 06, but so what? The game itself isn't all that great, but PS1 was the first system to put great stories in the games and even though I didn't care back then I love great stories now so I'm just so happy that they made it possible to make games like MGS3, SOTC and so on today! BTW just remmebered, even now they put up completely new FFVII guides at gamefaqs, that have to prove something?
The xboxes are cool consoles, my brothers own them both (one with 360 and one with the original), but they just put togheter what was great about the others Sony and nintendo) and gave it some nice graphics, the problem is that it didn't get any great exclusives. They got halo that's popular, but I can think of a lot of way beter FPS than Halo, i won't even start the PC list, but PS2 and acctually xbox to got for example XIII which is a way better FPS than Halo. Online gaming had been done before by the PC (and aperantly dreamcast if I shal believe what they said in the vid) and it was nintendo and Sony that made multiplayer important... Well, maybe not... The older systems did some job there to.
I'm just happy thay kept away WII and DS, hate those systems, but from how they defined the PS1 as the winner they should probably have been there... They added a lot of people to gaming, but they games acctually suck for us hardcore people. Can't understand hardcores who plays that much DS... My DS is just gathering togheter a lot of dust, my PSP is being used all the time! Even before I hacked so I could play FFVII! I admit that I haven't tried WII, but it basically just have Zelda which I just never fell for, nothing wrong with them, just isn't all that cool, some 7/10 games and a lot of games about 5/10! And that is sucky!
I admit that I'm a Sony fan boy, but at least I have tried most of the sysems, and if it wasn't for MGS4 I would have dropped PS3 completely and bought myself a 360, haven't got any interest in WII. And what I just said now shows us what really is the most important thing, the games, ot the systems!
"PC people are like people who still watch VHS and wonder why everyone else has switched to DVDs. Upgrading every 3 months to play the latest games is dumb, just like thinking a PC is a game console"
wow what great incite (sarcasm) except that a console is basically a pc since it has a ram, mobo, video cards, harddrives....so a pc isnt a console. a console is just a watered down pc
X-box?? haha Noobz.
the nes is crap quality games if i wanted to play them i could do that on my psp or my comp
the best one is the ps3
this video is just rated on by these people watch other vids they are rated differently but the best gaming system you can have is a computer cause you can just get emulators and play gameboy, playsta tion, xbox, nes,s nes and others.
I agree with you that the PS3 sucks
yea, also considering that SMB1 was dubbed the best video game in history, in terms of the impression it made.
this is dark alex wishing you all a happy birthday! but seriously ill have your new firmware out soon! i promise il get to it after i finish watching spongebob reruns!
Dreamcast should be higher than that....
I can play 8 out of the 10 consoles on the PSP, thank you.
SNES=good but limited to only a few major good games everything else about it sucked
PSX=WTF is wrong with u people it wasnt that danm great
GBA n GB=OMFG both of them are put to shame because of the danm PSP..Homebrew mods i mean come on...
N64=Get the ***** out of here that ***** sucked ass compared to Dreamcast saturn n psx
XBOX SHOULD BE LIKE 3rd on the list if not first, XBOX live anyone???? revamped controllers!!! HARD drive, CD rips, amazing games.. even though there were not as many.. N come on WTf it has the greatest game of all Time HALO!!!! are *****in kidding me.
Ps2 n Psx only sold so many danm systems because SOny makes crap ass hardware that breaks every danm month how many *****in times did they have to replace the lazer in that ***** 15 *****in times. They break all the time i have 3 broken ps2s a broke psp. No ive never dropped any of them the just died. And im using facts when i speak and u people know im right so sit back n shut the ***** up the arguments done!!!
I agree with you 100% PS1 definitley help people get out of their heads that games aren't just for kids. It really matured the gaming industry and help expand the demographic.
The PS1 made console gaming kool again, thats why its #1 and PS2 is not.
And Xbox I dont believe should be there they have not had as much influence on the industry as some of those consoles have. As for its online capabilties its not like other consoles hadn't been online before it. Also for its superior graphics, every generation the graphics have improved, I'd even say in some of the earlier generations there was more of a leap in graphics that what was experienced between PS1 and PS2 generations. so theres nothing special there for the xbox.
Pong wasn't a console.. it was an arcade machine.
But your right it did start the games industry, but its not a console, and thats why its not up there.
Those newer consoles you listed havn't had as much influence as the one on that list, nothing has come after PSP, Wii etc yet. there all this generation and havn't influenced much or anything yet. Maybe in another decade people will look back at these newer consoles and see what how much influence they had on the industry.
10.X-Box
9.Atari Jaguar
8.Sega Saturn
7.Gameboy Advance
6.NES
5.Sega Dreamcast
4.Playstation
3.N-64
2.Playstation 2
1.SNES
Note-these are just based on how good the system itself is and not the impact it had on the videogame market
Achually your right about Pong, I just read up about it: it was a console. I guess it should be up on that list .
Although I don't agree with the xbox been there.
PS1 was the first console to allow you to play pirate cd!
we sould't be here without it.
PS1 deserve the primate.
I don't understand why the Gamecube wasn't mentioned! If I remember correctly, the Gamecube's Metroid Prime and Prime 2 are the only games I know of which eliminated loading times while using disks! That alone is enough to get it reginition!
Can the PsP eliminate loading times like the DS can?
Guess what? Mods just prove that other systems are better, and that you are resorting to using your system for playing any good games!
It proves that you were forced to go and play better games from better systems!
I agree with that list. I also love how people are saying the PS3 sucks. Its brand new and its selling faster than its little brothers even if its trailing behind the Wii/360 right now in sales. You guys just don't get it. MGS and Final Fantasy are why PS1 owned every other system and it will happen again this time as well. Up until that point, expect the PS3 to do average.
Xbox? The only thing xbox has contributed to the gaming industry is halo
Most of you who strongly disagree with the list probably haven't been around gaming long enough. It's obviously not based on hardware capabilities, but more on their impact not only on their competition at the time (if there was any), but also their impact on future gaming.
As far as the X-Box goes, about the only really interesting thing that X-Box managed to bring was X-Box Live (bringing a pretty strong online gaming backbone to consoles), which might have been interesting, if it hadn't come along at a time where everyone was already playing games online via PC's (which an X-Box basically is) for years already. The best thing it possibly did was give the PS2 a little competition. Otherwise, Microsoft hardly ever comes up with anything inventive; they just rebadge technology that's been around for years.
As far as the handhelds, I actually owned a bunch of those handhelds (and I still do). The GameBoy, for lack of better competition, simply won out. The other systems simply couldn't sustain themselves for various reasons, and if the GameBoy had failed like they did, who knows if someone else would have bothered to come along and try to create a handheld market again? Maybe Microsoft? It proved that it was a sustainable market.
The GBA I would also agree with, and again, you have to go back in time and look at the surroundings. Portable gaming up until that point was rather stunted. Outside of Japan, all we saw were Z80 based handhelds (with a few exceptions, which all died by their own hands anyways). So you have this relatively long time span of crappy gaming ... up until the GBA comes along (for everyone, not just the Japanese). Imagine going from a Z80 all the way up to an ARM processor. The GBA hardware enabled the software titles that proved you could now actually have viable, engaging gaming on a portable platform. There were people buying portables because they wanted access to those games, as opposed to buying portables and then suffering through the available offerings. There's a HUGE difference between the two, and it was a combination of hardware, software, and time (context). The GBA directly led to the handheld war we have today.
Personally, my only problem with the list is the appearance of the N64. The only reason why I would put the N64 on the list would be to demonstrate what a spectacular failure looks like. Kind of like the guy in Kung Pow (squeaky shoes) that they intentionally teach wrong, as an example to the other students.
If the list weren't restricted to strictly games, I would have put C64 somewhere on the list. Those of you in the know understand the impact of that little system. But if we're limiting the focus, I might have put the TurboGrafx-16 system as a whole into the category. It was the first console with a CDROM (hrm, we see a little of that again later, don't we?), as well as having a pretty nifty portable version (hrm, we see a little of that again later, don't we?)
But alas, history as it so happens is usually the story of the courage and valiance winners, not the losers.
I could change a few around, but so minimally it really doesn't matter. I never owned an Atari, personally I think PS2 should be higher, though every system to me is a 'nintendo'. PS2 set the bar for next-gen when it came out, not dreamcast really... Dreamcast was more like a sneak peak. 64 was good. PS1 was definently number one.
GBA and Gameboy were totally different, if you don't understand why, then you aren't allowed to have an opinion. GBA and SNES were actually the same though. And yeah, SNES is one of the greatest systems ever. If you don't agree, sorry, everyone knows that. Super Mario world, contra3, FF 4 and 6, the two greatest, megaman, etc etc, so many good games.. super metroid, ogre battle, bahamut lagoon, secret of mana, super mario rpg, double dragon, street fighter, super mario all stars, shadow run, UN SQUADRON, MARIO KART, NCAA football, countless other games... damn that system had so many good games...
MCS never has anything but ill-willed garbage. Yeah, there are a lot of fantards on this site, and ***** like that, but MCS never says anything open-ended, it's always, 'I like this, it's the best, if you don't think so you're f*cking stupid.' It's like, wow, cool. It'd be cool to argue intelligently with you, but you seem to lack a key element there,...Oh what could it be? Loosen up a little man.
...But, If I had the money to keep my PC loaded with the best of the best, sh*t...I'd take that.
I totally agree with paka: The only thing xbox did was halo and maybe project gotham racing. But we had need for speed already; so xbox really only added halo to the industry
Microsoft's console isn't among the top ten. Well it isn't because it shouldn't be. It's like an intruder among other consoles.
Yes folks, we're definitely expecting clicks from people here, but it you certainly have to agree that some of these definitely deserve to be in there. Game Trailers has decided to tackle the controversial question of which 10 consoles deserve a spot in a top 10 list, and they've actually gone and done it. and we are ripping their rewards.
YES... flamebait for sure. hidden quote-we will fool a lots of people to debate upon this.
Anyway, we definitely aren't spoiling it for you, but you can expect to see some of your favorite previous generation consoles from Sony and Nintendo on the list. Sadly, the newest consoles are absent from this, and Microsoft's two consoles aren't anywhere in the top ten. GameTrailers quote-they shouldn't be, if we make it top 15 then maybe they'll be included geesh.
Still, if you can handle that little omission from the list, it actually seems pretty fair. Expect the number one to be a cause of debate though, but we definitely agree with it, at least. Enjoy! because we are - by speedhop.
anyway thank you for the clicks and the comments.
This should be called the top ten most revolutionary consoles otherwise PS3 would be top.
I dunno why the people in US ignore Sega Master System and Neo-Geo...
Top 10 USA?
I don't f*ck care
Maybe when they do this list in a few years they will put the DS on it, other than that the list is good just in the wrong order.
I'd say the PSP deserves a spot just because of the homebrew scene its created and how much its motivated people to create awesome software for it. Even if it didn't revolutionize gaming and even though every title that comes out for it isn't stellar, just the fact that it created a scene and sites like this one should merit a spot on the list. No other console that I can think of has a homebrew scene that creates as much quality stuff and has such a loyal following.
The DS, at least 4 versions of the Gameboy, and maybe Nomad or Game Gear would place ahead of that thing. The only thing going for PSP is "homebrew", and by "homebrew" I mean "emulated Nintendo-system games"
Well you got two differences here between PS3 and 360 did you know the new machine is a blue ray player for half - price (PS3) I got mine in March 2007 about 2 months it's been and I love it my friends are probably quite Jealous 360 has HD - DVD The PS3 Has Blu - Ray it's a DVD but it's designed for entertainment , picture perfect and outstanding cinema quality. You should never worry about money all you got to do is save up enough said. Oh and this is to prevent arguments
Listen right I loved Sony's New Console (PS3) it's the last one I am getting and I just prefer it more than the Xbox 360 and Wii because I wanted it and my Dad brought it for me I would pay £20 for Blu - Ray DVDs off Amazon and £30 or £40 for the games so shall I start saving up each week now would it be a good idea. The 360 is a next gen console but what people forgetting it doesn't have enough features to make it an excellent console and PS Network right is better than Xbox Live Which you would have to pay for every time I went on the store and most of it's free other stuff comes with a price.
