Wake Up to the Alarm Clock DS |
Ó
Since just about every tech product in the world has probably become some kind of alarm clock at one point in time or another, it was bound to happen to the Nintendo DS...we just had to wait long enough. The wait is over though, as Spinel has created just that kind of app: the Alarm Clock DS. It certainly does seem useful if you're that fond of playing with the DS, but he never quite mentioned the sound I'd be waking up to in his notes, which we've added (and spellchecked) for your benefit:
The operation is simple. While the clock is running, the screen lights will go out to save power. When you touch the touch screen, the light will come on. Touching the screen will also act as a 'snooze' button, and will disable the alarm for ten (10) minutes.
The controls are as follows:
L + R - Set alarm mode
A (held) - Select minutes
B (held) - Select hours
Up - Increase time (While holding A or B)
Down - Decrease time (While holding A or B)
Start - Return to clock mode
Start - Enable/Dissable the alarm
Up/Down - Cycle digit colors
X - Cycle alarm type
Touch pad - Light on (for a few seconds) / snooze
You'll also have to note the forums, which seems to be talking about some problems getting it to work properly. We hope he fixes these problems soon. For now, however, let's see how well this version plays.
If our readers wouldn't mind trying it out, let us know what works and what doesn't. We here at QJ don't tend to wake up at the sound of an alarm, so the input would be useful. Can it actually wake you up? Will we be annoyed by the alarm? Give us your opinions after trying it, or maybe tell the creator himself.

Note: Kitt makes an important point. The DS already has an alarm clock to begin with, and I apologize for not reading the instructions when I opened my DS and played Feel the Magic XY/XX the moment I started it. Do you folks see any difference between his app and the built-in one? Let us know. Also, thanks to Kitt.

Doesn't the DS already have an alarm clock built into the firmware >.> I fail to see any advantage of this Alarm clock over the built in one ^^" Meow.
Exactly there is no point whatsoever in this ap unless u can either change the alarms tone or make the alarm louder then..........this alarm is pointless.
I wonder if anyone told him that. When I wrote this, my main thought was, "Why would you want to keep your DS on indefinitely like that?" Anyway, it's my mistake as well. I never bothered to read the directions and just played a game as soon as I opened the box. Thanks for the reminder.
I can select an mp3 or wav as an alarm with some hot chick's voice saying "Wake up..... Time to go to school" in a very soft voice, then getting louder (in volume, not speech) until you wake up.
My DS already wakes me up every morning with it's alarm, so this is pretty pointless for me. Nice try though.
Of course, I still have to give my congratz to the programmer. It may not be the most usefull of programs, but it is a quality peice of software regardless. Perhaps we'll see some more work from this guy in the future =3 Meow.
