UK PM Gordon Brown to look at video game violence - Image 1UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown has promised to take another look at banning violent video games targetted at teenagers. This according to the Mirror.

This is the latest development in the growing concern of UK parents and government officials over the exposure of children to violence via video games and other forms of media.

Last week, UK Conservative Party leader David Cameron released a dossier renewing the call against violent video games and other forms of artistic expression. The British Board of Film Classification has since responded to Cameron's dossier.

According to the Mirror, Prime Minister Brown said that he would study "whether new rules are needed on advertising and sale of violent games" to teenagers. The plans will reportedly be put to a new Citizens' Jury this week.

Dude! Your title is complete ***** as you say in the text.

They are not "banning violent videogames." They are looking at the rules for advertising and sales to teenagers (younger than their legal age for adults, 16?).

Wow, way to sensationalize it!

wtf this is stupid, 2 points i've never seen adverts for 18 rated games like gta or whatever during the simpsons on tv. Nor is it legal to sell 18 rated games to kids under that here in the uk.

this is just an attempt to keep all the retarded mothers that think there children are mindless robots that can be programed by pictures on a screen, on the pm's side.

I think they've thought of pretty much everything already, and every new thing proves even more pointless. Good way to get votes from idiot parents though.

This is one of the worst articles i have ever seen in QJ. Your report is full of errors and contradicts itself at the end. People say this blog is the National Enquirer of the internet. In truth, your not even that good! Do some vetting before you let clueless bloggers post on your site. Maybe then you wouldn't be seen as a complete joke. \o/

» How are they going to enforce it?

I was in GAME once, and there was a young kid (11 or 12), and he was with his Grandmother. The person behind the till welcomly sold some Gladiator Game (Shadow of Rome?) to his Grandmother! And it was an 18! As if the boy's Grandmother was going to play that! It's against the law to sell games to underage people, so why don't shops enforce it?!

My parents won't allow me any 18 rated games (I'm 15 btw), and they're only just allowing me to have Assassin's Creed for Xmas! (16+).

Video games dont make people want to go out and kill someone, nor do movies. Bad parenting and bad politics do that. Brown is an idiot if he is really wasting time on this issue.

Its all just knee jerk reactions after those kids killed each other in Liverpool last week.

Give us tax payers some value for money and sort out these problems at the root. Thats what your payed for after all.

» actually

We he said was "I dont want to ban any games" He just wants to make sure people dont get access to these games so early on. So stricter ratings.
