Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games from Nintendo - Image 1

Way back during TGS 2007, it was announced that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games was expected to sell four million copies. While this hasn't happened yet, it's got a pretty good start as the Wii version of the game hops up to first place in the UK for individual format sales.

For the week of December 8, newcomer Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 stands at the 20th spot. Out of the top spot is Dr Kawashima's Brain Training which dropped to second place, while Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the 360 has jumped up to third place from sixth last week.

Here's the rest of the top 20 for the week of December 8:
  1. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games (Wii)
  2. Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training (DS)
  3. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (360)
  4. Mario Party 8 (Wii)
  5. More Brain Training from Dr Kawashima (DS)
  6. Assassin's Creed (360)
  7. Need for Speed: ProStreet (PS2)
  8. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
  9. High School Musical: Sing It! (PS2)
  10. The Simpsons Game (PS2)
  11. Cooking Mama (DS)
  12. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (Wii)
  13. FIFA 08 (PS2)
  14. Sight Training (DS)

» Don't people read reviews?

Mario and Sonic got horrible reviews.

The main problem? Bad controls!

I thought the Wiimote was the system seller, but if not done right it ruins games. Oh well, people will buy the game anyway, after all, it has mario and sonic.

» haha, no

People will not buy it just because it has mario and sonic. They will buy because it looks fun. Most gaming systems have controller flaws with some games. Best thing to do is ignore the game and shush.

» Nope u lose again

No it didnt get horrible reviews...not from everyone, and the conrtols are fine its just quite tiring......but i guess you wouldnt be able to handle playing it any ways....but see some of the Reviews.....

Game pro 3.5/5(thats like a 7-10....)

IGN 7.9/10 oh yeah thats horrible alright....

Gamespot 6/10 which is not amazing but not "horrible"

Meta Critic Overall 67%

Game Rankings 71%

Game informer was the most harsh with a

4/10 and 5/10....

YOU wouldnt think these two scores count but for those who do look...

Nintendo Power Magazine gave the game a score of 7.5/10.

The British Official Nintendo Magazine gave the game a very respectable 90% and a 'gold award', claiming the game to be "one of the best athletics games ever". hence the sales.....

Also.....Mario + Sonic at the Olympic Games received Best Wii Game of 2007 at the Leipzig Games Convention. so yeah.....everyone needs to get this game...

» Scores?? Who cares..

Honestly, I don't give a damn about scores....I have yet to play this game, but I will not let some paid video game dude's score prevent me from giving it a try..

» your arms are sore?

What game are you refering to "Mr gay lover?" Have you been "cave exploring" with your friends demondirk and the obsidian (assuming you're not one of them?)

Actually I don't pay much attention to reviews either. I do read the complaints and compliments of each game though.

I'd prefer Call of Duty 4 and Asassin's Creed any day. Seriously, you Wii fans have no idea what you're missing wasting time with these mindless minigames.
