Turn your DS into a multimedia powerhouse with MAX Media Dock |

Datel has sent out word that it's MAX Media Dock for the Nintendo DS and DS Lite can now be found on store shelves! It includes the exclusive MAX Media Player, enabling you to play MP3s, view JPEGs, and stream movies from a Compact Flash Card - supporting sizes up to 8GB!However, what's really interesting is that Datel openly promotes the execution of homebrew software as a feature, with a support site online that points newbies to the right places to find homebrew games, emulators and software.
The MAX Media Dock is available in three versions - a cardless version that comes only with the Media Player and Media Dock, a 1GB CF Card version and a 2GB CF Card version. The different versions retail for £29.99, £54.99 and £84.99 respectively. If you're not in the UK, you can buy the MAX Media Dock in the CodeJunkies shop.
Datel's device seems to be a very versatile piece, and with the almost aggressively advertised homebrew support, it might open up the DS homebrew scene even for people who aren't familiar with it yet, thus increasing it's popularity.

The max media launcher that comes with the hard drive.. = awsome. you can use your Super card, m3.. basicly whatever. its better then having a large passme device sticking out of your ds. (i previously had a superpass 2)
however......
the hard drive.. is utter crap. currently the firmware on it doesnt really do anything.. if you upgrade it to 1.1 you will have the ability to run your mp3s
it relys on a old version of moonshell to play videos and mp3 and such.. and for some reason i still cant seem to upgrade moonshell for some reason.. but im sure its something im doing wrong
ive had a hard time getting several homebrews working
matter of fact i think the only one i did get working was a sonic break out game... and for some reason only the top screen was backlit... it didnt backlight my bottom screen..
i also have a navy blue DSL.
as for video quality.. ive been spoiled by PSPs video.. so i can say that the quality of the video is definatly low. however.. its still better then nothing.
mp3s sound good.. and you can actually use mp3s.. you dont have to convert them to a specific file like you did with the GBA movie player.
so overall.. the package is really only worth it for the max media launcher card.. which i believe is sold seperatrly.. and this is only if you have a current flash card
otherwise unless they improve the functionality of the HD.... i really kinda feel a tad ripped.
BTW this is also in the US. i bought mine at Best Buy

Just get an M3 or a SuperCard MiniSD.
And If you don't want to get your DS flashed get one of the new PassCards. (They are the same size as a normal DS game so they don't stick out like a sore toe.
(You hear that number 4?!?! SAME SIZE AS A DS CART!)
