What can we expect from
Call of Duty: World at War (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, DS) come November 11? Everything from CoD 4's multiplayer. Only better. And with tanks. At least, that's what Call of Duty 5 senior producer Noah Heller promises.

"I think what [Modern Warfare's success] did most of all is emphasize multiplayer to us," said
Heller in a recent interview with CVG. "Our multiplayer's definitely built off CoD4 because it was an excellent platform to build off," he explained.

CoD5 will sport the stat-collecting online mode, perks and all the good stuff that made CoD4's multiplayer experience so enjoyable. In addition, there will be vehicles (something I would have loved to have in Modern Warfare), a co-op mode and a number of other tweaks that are supposed to bring World at War's multiplayer mode into a class of its own (for example, it takes now just one center-mass shot to kill rather than three or four).

Heller continued on the newfound emphasis on mutiplayer that the CoD series seems to be taking:

In the olden days of CoD you had multiplayer and you had single-player and they never meet. CoD 4 was a multiplayer sensation so it was very important that we focused on multiplayer and that we got a chance to show our own multiplayer.

Sounds good, but I can't shake the feeling that I'll just be buying an updated Battlefield 1942 with CoD5... not that that's a bad thing, mind you.

eek

at first i was like great cod5, but then ww, mm have to see some screens, saw screens must say quite dissapointing, friend got beta, told me it was good started warming to it, but its uses the same engine, and cod4 gameplay was great theres not much more they can do apart from levels/maps, which can all be supplied by DLC (the usual rip)

but saw the zombie trailer WOW

now this, it seems like cod4 only worse, i dont care but if tanks are in sabotage or headquaters, ill stick to cod4, vehicles always ruin a game, halo being an exception

also i think because theyre focusing on online, they make a decent online, but worse than cod4, and a god awful campaign,

balance its all about balance, good campaign amazing online

online for me comes first, but story comes staright after it

» dont really like it

now i played cod 3 for a year solid. i loved this game, i loved the bottlenecks and most of the maps were banging i was looking forward to cod 4 for a while, but it was totally reverted back into loads of people on a small map. (cod 2 pc style, xbox multiplayer was crap for cod 2), i have cod 4 but hardly play it, i prefer cod3. then cod 5 wow was announced and it was by treyarch and i thought yes another streamlined multiplayer with bottlenecks, but no i got the demo and thought cod 4 with a world war two twist, i then thought i would rather spend my cash on gow2 now (didn't buy gow 1 i bought cod 3 instead, (played gow1 though mp was to slow for me). i'm a 30yrs old fps fan. activision i say no thanks i wont be buying this i'll be playing cod3 and 4 for a while longer with all the other cod 3/4 fans. do something like cod 3 and i'll buy it. this should be a dlc pack to a game i'm not that big on. CoD 3 was disliked by most cod 2 (xbox mp) fans but i and other's, liked it i hope treyarch make a spin off game that goes along the cod 3 style gameplay and i'll support it. i'm cod 3 hardcore. i remember running a cod 3 server for 30 something hours and played all the way through, no game since has had me playing so hard. graphics dont make gameplay. cod 4 was not my bag(my opinion). cod 4/5 is to open with a lot of random coward killers(hiding) . cod 3 demanded skill to capture the flag. not just a coward sitting in the corner covering all the doors not unless you were pinned at base on eder dam. bring back treyach's way of doing cod. yes cod 4 was good, says the awards, but i dont like it. and i hardly play it. i like a good game. not a good marketing stategy. treyarch cod 3 was bangin and those fans of previous cod will say it's crap but us hardcore players, the ones still plaing it now. Apart from the f**ked up targeting. thinks cod 3 rocks and had it not been a commisioned game it would have definetly spawned a genuine sequel, cod 5 is just a ww2 cod 4 clone. cod 3 multiplayer is a great game and anybody that took the time to play a more streamlined game than cod 2/4/5 would like to see another one like it. ohh and b4 anyone start's saying i dont know nothing about the cod series i've been playing cod 2 on pc for a years.
