Cheerleaders doing what they do best - Image 1If you ever wanted to try a different kind of game for your Nintendo Wii or your Nintendo DS, you may very well get that chance with THQ's upcoming All Star Cheer Squad.

The video game publisher is marketing it as the first-ever cheerleading game to hit the market. Not surprisingly, THQ is targeting female gamers for this new title.

In All Star Cheer Squad, players will follow a year in the life of a cheerleader as she (and they) learn new cheers, participate in practices, and create their very own cheer routines.

The goal, apparently, is to make the cheering squad and become the squad's captain. There will reportedly be squad competitions and one-on-one cheer-offs in the game. In fact, THQ has even hired choreographer Tony G (of the Bring It On movie fame) to make sure that All Star Cheer Squad has only the latest cheer routines for players to use.

The game will also support the use of the Wii Balance Board and sport cheerleader various cheerleader customization options. In case you have a Nintendo DS, instead, the portable version will sport a storyline unique to the system that will focus on the adventures of a cheerleading camp competing against other rival camps.

An odd, yet novel concept without dead birds or bullies, but we suppose there's a first time for everything.

What I want to know is how we're supposed to use the Nunchuck, Wiimote and Balance Board to do cheering routines. XD
