The ultimate neat-freak gaming cabinet

For anyone who's pretty much gone out and bought almost every console out in the market, you might want to consider getting one of these. This won't only make your consoles happy (if they even have emotions), but it will also keep the rest of your household from tripping over your gaming machines when trying to cross the living room.

Not to be confused with the ultimate gaming DESK, this shelf was created by kriseattle22. We find this piece of furniture to be rather impressive for several reasons. One reason would be how it keeps everything so neat and tidy, with the pretty consoles all lined up nicely, and the controllers hung up at the side of the cabinet in an orderly fashion, just waiting to be picked up. So yeah, with this thing, you won't have to worry too much about your couch eating your controllers anymore.

Next, we love the ventilation on this cabinet. Not only do the consoles get to prettily sit on an elevated platform to keep the bottoms aired, but the maker has also fitted some LED fans on either side of each console to keep it nice and cool.

Now what else could we have asked for with this design? Hmm... probably a system to keep all of the wires out of sight as well.

I prefer the Horizontal Double-Shelf with all the system on upright. Its alot easier than Vertical Multi-Shelf. Too much wires. I mean, if you have wireless router then its easier to leave less space for the power cord and cable cord. I like the modded blue fans and it look like it come from XBox or PC part, lol! Your TV projector is too big and you should get an LCD HDTV to match your design!

but did this really deserve a newspost? It's not like it's some engineering marvel. And are the blue LED fans really necessary?

Dam, that wiring must have been a nightmare, and judging by the 50 or so fans, this guy must be an obssessive compulsive or something, but yeh, thats a great set-up anyways.

Come on ... this has been around for like two weeks, i've seen this all over...

And why does the Wii section get all this BS? It's just annoying to see this console specific section get butchered.

but the major problem with tower units is the taller they are the less sturdy (more susceptible to tip over i mean). But this looks like its built solid. Nice work.

But another concern is that if one of the higher platforms break (even tho it looks well built, im just saying), everything is going to come crashing down onto the unit below it. Thats gonna create a whole heap of expensive pieces of plastic and metal.

# one problemGuest 2006-12-11 00:41
The only problem I can see here is that it has a lame ass ps3 at the top there. I dont think I have ever been so disapointed with a console. As soon as you plug the thing in and your greated to a lame psp menu screen its just downhill from there on. Then you have the framerate problems the loading times the *****ty tilt feature and the no rumble. Then you put linux on it expecting some great performance and the menus lag and the system runs like crap. Then you quickly repackage it and sell it on ebay and forget that you ever laid eyes on the worthless piece of *****. Then you go out swallow your pride and buy an xbox 360 and then experience true nextgen games and a true well built well priced system. Seriosly I hope sonys ps3 crashes and burns.

whoever said 50 fans is a retard. I only count 10. Its a pretty cool idea but I like to mod the systems itself instead of a shelf. I would probably like it better if the shelf was black.

# how is this a design?Guest 2006-12-11 07:54
it isnt a design really

its just a shelf with some holes for fans and elevated places for systems.

im gonna steal this and use it on my own shelf

all i need is some wood something to cut the shelf with and buy some fans

its still a very good idea

but it are led lights necessary

XD

have you actually played a PS3?

so far, i've experience no framerate issues, no lag while playing 40 player online matches in Resistance, no overheating, no loudness, no crashes, and, if your TV is capable of sound, you don't even notice the lack of rumble, because the expert sound design rocks you pretty nicely.

for those that have a PS3, and not a 360, i highly recommend Resistance: Fall of Man, and Fight Night Round 3. Marvel Ultimate Alliance is passable, though it has it's issues. it's a great piece of hardware, now it's just the obligatory wait for better software to come about (though Resistance is easily it's first killer app, and a solid 9/10 in my book).

anyway, back to Ezeck:

last i checked, the defect rate of the 360 is pretty high, well built probably wouldn't be the best term to use when describing the console. surprisingly enough, the PS3 is well built, especially considering all the issues with the PS2. you don't think they actually....*listened* to us, did you? no, can't be *rolls eyes*.

i plan on getting a 360 at some point, but after spending a lot of time with the PS3 (had it since launch), it's not the trainwreck that oh so many ignorant folk on the internet wish it to be. remember: the internet isn't as influential as some of you people think it is (look at Snakes on a Plane and WTC as examples of this phenomenon; Snakes was hyped to all get out on the internet, and bombed miserably at the Box Office. WTC was touted as being a failure and insensitive across the net, and ended up being critically and commercially well recieved)

enjoy your X Box 360, us PS3 owners will welcome you back after you get wind of some of the killer titles heading it's way (it did, after all, take the 360 a year to get Gears of War. the PS3 has been out for barely a month, but at least it hit with Resistance).

# That setup sucksGuest 2006-12-11 11:28
This is nothing more than a shelf. The air is supposed to flow from front to back not side to side. Why lift them on blocks they'll just fall over? The LEDs are gay. The systems aren't even protected at all from dust which I think killed my PS2. What's with that huge compartment for the Wii? Why does the surround sound receiver have to go on the top? My setup is cheaper, works better, and has no worthless PS3 taking up space.

the fans help circulate air through ech of the systems so they dont overheat..doesnt matter which way its comming from as long as its staying cool..and they are sitting on blocks so they can breath from underneath..dummy

all the compartments are the same..and how the hell would you protect it from dust?..its almost impossible

i agree about the ps3 take up space but the LED lights..iono..lol

The consoles are designed to intake air from the side or front and blow it out the back. They are also designed to either stand or sit so it's not needed to lift them up and they'd be more likely to fall over. The wii doesn't need a fan and I don't think it even has one built in. I have a degree in industrial maintenance so I think I know what I'm talking about. In my setup I have a filter on the front and a fan blowing out the back to protect from dust. You can shut the f*ck up now thank you.
