The Force Unleashed (PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, DS) isn't your ordinary Star Wars game, it's the next chapter of the Star Wars Saga. (Why is it not ordinary? Just because it's the next chapter?) This is about the most epic the franchise has gotten so far, with a title that will be nothing short of canon. (This sentence is choppy and needs revision.) During the recent Celebration Europe (CE) event, LucasArts Project Lead Haden Blackman, Producer Julio Torres, and Secret Apprentice actor Sam Witwer gave gamers the inside scoop into the inner workings of The Force Unleashed.

Every Star Wars story begins a long, long time ago... in a galaxy far, far away. (This sentence is out of place.) Choosing the Empire's rise to power shortly after the conclusion of Revenge of the Sith, (hanging dependent clause. Revise sentence so the clause is closer to the thing it describes.) Blackman said that the team "felt like the Star Wars saga is ultimately about Vader and his art, so we needed a time period that had Vader in it." The story is rich with new and recurring characters, locations, and events that will put gamers right into the middle of Star Wars lore and will provide a definite link to Episode IV.

With a great timeline chosen, the developers had to come up with an equally rich character to base the story around. Backed by George Lucas' approval, they created the secret apprentice: a force user and warrior of unsurpassed skill who, Witwer describes, is a "wide-eyed scared kid," underneath all the training. "He's not a Sith, but he's been raised with Sith powers. Whereas a normal Jedi would be very conservative and respectful of the Force, this kid just runs around using it as much as he can."

Force usage is definitely a big thing when it comes to Star Wars games. So when asked how the use of the Force would be treated in the game, Blackman replied that the team "really wanted to blow the Force out of proportion, really amp it up in order to serve game play." And as the trailers would show, the team really took it to the top.

And what about the other characters? The title will include new names like Juno Eclipse, the apprentice's love interest and in-game conscience, Master Rahm Kota who can only be described as a "Samurai-like Jedi", the Zabrak Jedi Maris Brood who uses lightsaber tomfas in a brand new fighting style, and PROXY, the apprentice's droid sidekick. "Princess Leia, Bail Organa, and Shaak Ti are also in the game, and there's a couple other characters who have some cameos that the fans will be able to spot."

With much of the game's content to be written in as canon in the Star Wars Saga, its no surprise that the title places as much emphasis on its storyline and character development as it does its gameplay. LucasArts has been busy creating this masterful title that is as much game as it is movie. With the way everything looks right now, we might as well start calling it masterpiece (This is your opinion, Henry. Indicate that it is your opinion).
