The Nintendo Weekend Warrior - Image 1

With the GDC riding off into the sunset, the gaming scene is left with a seriously hyped-up trail filled with bits of info on this year's hottest titles. Couple that with the new info that Famitsu's so darn good at getting, and you have a very noisy news week to recap. For starters, Square Enix revealed more info for their much-awaited games, plus the Wii homebrew devs seemed to have really hit their stride, releasing their heavy artillery for the scene. For this edition of the Nintendo Weekend Warrior for the DS and Wii, there's gonna be some rumor-busting, some Squeenix quizzing, and Wii brewing!

Game News

  • Let's not forget about Square's younger star, Sora. Tetsuya Nomura reveals through Famitsu that there's gonna be a big announcement, and it might concern KH. Link
  • Another big name made his presence felt at the GDC, and it looks like Link will be enjoying another Zelda game. Link
  • Woody and Buzz are back, and they're gonna be in their very own shooting game, Toy Story Mania!, complete with 3D glasses in the package. Link
  • Square Enix showers us with more updates for their upcoming titles, including Kingdom Hearts 358/2 details from the latest Famitsu. Link
Nintendo News

  • Netflix has been with Xbox 360 for some time now, and it seems like the Wii is gonna join in on the streaming action. Link
  • Neil Young triggers another flame-filled debate by commenting that the iPhone is better than the scene's two darling handhelds - the PSP and DS. Link
Homebrew News
  • Wii homebrew developer waninkoko updated his Wii Firmware Updater earlier this week. He didn't leave a changelog but you can always try it out for yourself. Link
  • Team Twiizers looked at the new System Menu v4.0 last Wednesday - Good News: Homebrew Channel and DVDX still work; Bad News: Twilight Hack is now blocked. Link
  • Latest Wii Batch IOS upgrade contains changes to various IOS versions so don't update yet unless you know exactly what you're doing.Link
  • Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Super Smash Brothers Brawl both now run in Dolphin Rev2746. Link
  • Gamecube Backup Launcher v0.2 now supports Freeloader and Action Replay, as well as speed and performance improvements. Link
