The Nintendo Weekend Warrior - on gold, silver, red, and black |
Ó
There's quite a lot to catch up on this week if you haven't been checking up, and there's a lot of color to go around too. Gold and silver are the colors of the new Pokemon remakes that have now been confirmed for the DS. Red is the theme of the crisp-looking Red Steel 2, although it's rather unfortunate that others won't see the video now. Finally, there's black, and quite a lot of it as the black-cloaked Nobodies of Organization XIII dish out some serious pain. Catch all that and more on this week's recap.
Game News
Despite coming to every gaming platform out there, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen gets some exclusive stuff for its Wii and PS2 versions. These features include Co-op Arena Mode, and Gesture-based combat thanks to the Wii's motion-sensing capabilities. Link- If you thought that Red Steel 2 is just gonna be another crappy Wii title, think again. There was a video earlier this week showing some gameplay from the upcoming title and it was sweet. Too bad YouTube had to pull the video down due to a copyright claim. Link
- Monster Hunter fans, good news! The Capcom presswire hints that a localized Monster Hunter 3 may be announced soon, meaning it might be released on Western shores. Check it out. Link
- The Nobodies of Organization XIII put on a show as they're the ones shelling out some pain this time around. Catch Xigbar, Demyx, and the other dark-cloaked Nobodies in the four Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days vids in the full article. Link
- Here's the beefiest chunk of them all this week. Rumors sparked with an announcement at the Japanese TV Show, Pokemon Sunday, bearing gold and silver confetti balls. Link. Days later, the rumors were confirmed by yet another announcement, and now Pokemon Gold and Silver are set to get remade for the Nintendo DS. Link
Nintendo News
Did you catch the Forbes survey that came out earlier this week? They went and checked for the most reputable companies from every industry out there, and Nintendo checked in at #6, leaving the competition to bite their dust. With the top-selling Wii and three models of the DS under their belt, it's no surprise that they are deemed to be that reputable. Link- EA Sports is really ramping up the support for the Wii MotionPlus. After announcing that Tiger Woods PGA 10 and Grand Slam Tennis will support the new device a few weeks ago, the publisher even moved the two games' release a week earlier, coinciding with the MotionPlus launch. Link
- Apart from the MotionPlus, the Wii-no-Ma is also making some noise. Satoru Iwata confirms that they're planning to release the video streaming service outside Japan, even adding that the service's original programming may be included in the international versions. How is that a good thing? Read up on it right here. Link
Homebrew News
Hate the crappy NAND dump time? You're in luck. Wii homebrew dev pfcree has just updated his RealWnD, which is an improved 1:1 Wii NAND dumper. This app will greatly reduce the dump time and also keep track of all the error pages you run into. Link- Wii homebrew stalwart Waninkoko whipped out two releases this week. The first is the handy WAD Manager for your WAD packages. It comes with an SDHC support, internal SD slot and USB support from version 1.1 to 2.0. Link. The other Waninkoko release is the Firmware Downgrader, which basically allows you to switch between firmware versions for your homebrew needs. Link
It's been a week already? How time flies. Next thing you know, you're reading the next edition of the Wii and DS Warrior. Well, that must be a good thing 'cause time flies when you're having fun right?
